Overview of the Collaborative Capacity

Instrument

Integration of Services Leadership Meeting

October 21, 2010

CCI - Purpose

• Self-assessment of collaborative efforts between alcohol and other drug (AOD) and child welfare service (CWS) agencies and dependency courts

• To assist in moving jurisdictions to a new level of collaboration

• To assist in prioritization of collaborative efforts and changes in practice and policy

• To self-assess consensus and disagreement on values that underlie collaboration

The Ten Bridges

• The CCI is organized based on the ten-element framework of collaboration among child welfare, treatment, and the courts

• Questions in each of the ten areas allow sites to self-assess their progress in building stronger linkages to the other systems and where those linkages are most effective

Screen for Highlights

• Present highlights, not every single response• Consensus: where can we build on agreement?• Disagreement: which disagreements are

strongest and how will they affect practice and policy changes?

• Information gaps/don’t knows: where can we build agreement with better information?

The Value of Trend Lines

• Doing another CCI 12-18 months later identifies areas of progress and improved information flows

• Some measures may go down as respondents recognize they really don’t do what is being spotlighted, once they understand the question better

Review responses for…

• Representativeness—who’s missing? How do answers differ by agency? Can those differences start a useful conversation?

• Level of organization—front-line vs supervisory vs policy

• Present Results to Team and Discuss Findings• Prioritize Opportunities for Improvement• Develop Action Plan• Re-Administer in 18 months
