OZ Minerals is developing the Carrapateena mine approximately 160 km north of Port Augusta. To support mining activities, OZ Minerals is proposing to build a wellfield located north of the Mining Lease, referred to as the Northern Wellfield. The Northern Wellfield would include access roads, pipeline corridors, staging tanks, wellheads and pumps to source groundwater from deep underground aquifers to provide raw saline water to the mining operations. Access would be via a borefield road that connects to the existing Mining Lease access road.

OZ MINERALS’ SEB APPROACH
To develop the Carrapateena mine, OZ Minerals will clear native vegetation and native habitat. This land clearance requires delivery of environmental offsets as specified by the Government’s regulatory approval conditions.
OZ MINERALS CARRAPATEENA PROJECTENVIRONMENTAL OFFSET
OZ MINERALS WILL ADDRESS OFFSET REQUIREMENTS THROUGH A
COMBINATION OF PAYMENT AND ON-GROUND MEASURES
The South Australian Arid Lands Natural Resources Management (SAAL NRM) Board uses the payment to support programs and projects across the local region for environmental and sustainable use of
natural resources
OZ Minerals intends to partner with Nature Foundation South Australia to deliver the offset program for the first 10 year period, on Witchelina Pastoral Station, located 100 km north east of Carrapateena. Chosen as it is the nearest private conversation reserve with similar
suitable habitats and species.

OZ MINERALSCONCENTRATE TREATMENT PLANT
OZ Minerals produces copper concentrates. These concentrates contain a mix of minerals that are high in copper and sold to domestic and overseas smelters to be converted into copper metal. The Concentrate Treatment Plant (CTP) is a proposed processing facility that utilises an innovative processing method to separate impurities from the copper, creating a higher grade copper concentrate. OZ Minerals is seeking to deliver a high grade concentrate with very low impurities to our customers. The premium product will have a higher market value and potentially open up new markets and opportunities for OZ Minerals.
CTP LOCATION/ The preferred location for the CTP is near Port Augusta
where a parcel of land has been purchased
/ This means while other sites, including Whyalla and Carrapateena, have not been discounted, the Port Augusta location has been selected to progress environmental and engineering studies in 2018
/ If the CTP is located near Port Augusta, the high grade concentrate may be trucked or railed to Port Adelaide and then shipped to customers
/ An iron and calcium precipitate (what’s left over) would be transported back to OZ Minerals’ Carrapateena operation
/ The CTP is separate to the Carrapateena project and has the potential to treat concentrate from both Prominent Hill and Carrapateena
/ A final investment decision is anticipated by the end of 2018.
OZ MINERALS’ PARTNERSThe CTP process has been developed by OZ Minerals and our project partners:
/ Orway Mineral Consultants – specialists in hydrometallurgy
/ Adelaide University’s Institute for Mineral and Energy Resources – host of the ARC Australian Copper Uranium Research Hub
/ The Government of South Australia’s Department of the Premier and Cabinet (then Department of State Development) – joint sponsor of University of Adelaide’s Institute for Mineral and Energy Resources

DEVELOPMENT PHASES
The CTP project is in design phase and OZ Minerals is undertaking a range of environmental and engineering studies to inform the future direction of the project.
In 2017, a number of studies were completed including geotechnical investigations, baseline cultural heritage and environment work and trade-off studies. A successful pilot plant campaign was also completed, confirming plant performance.
OZ Minerals has committed to spend up to $12 million in 2018 to continue progressing study work on the CTP project. The primary focus of this work will be to improve the accuracy of capital and operating cost estimates. Development of the documentation to support government approvals is also underway.
Engineering consultants have been engaged to complete the remaining detailed study work, with a final investment decision on the project to be made by the end of 2018.
QUESTIONSContact the CTP Project Director at

OZ MINERALS UPDATEPROMINENT HILL
Prominent Hill has continued to reinforce its credentials as a reliable, low cost producer. The mine life is currently to 2029 and OZ Minerals intends to convert enough of the existing estimated ~80 Mt resource each year to maintain a circa 10+ year mine life ahead of it. In March 2018, Prominent Hill transitioned to an underground-only mining operation with closure of the open pit. The processing plant will remain at full capacity of around 9 to 10 Mtpa to 2023 with the processing of stockpiled open pit ore and underground ore. Over one hundred million tonnes of ore had been mined from the open pit since it started 10 years ago.
UNDERGROUND OPERATIONS
/ Underground haulage ramp up is on track
/ A third and fourth decline is being built at Prominent Hill so production can ramp up
/ The third decline is under construction and will be completed in Q2 2018
/ The fourth decline is scheduled for completion in Q3 2018
/ Award of the run-of-mine and underground ore rehandle contract
/ Finalisation of tender process for the Malu paste plant
UNDERGROUND MINING, COMBINED WITH STOCKPILE PROCESSING, WILL MAINTAIN THE PROCESSING PLANT AT FULL CAPACITY TO 2023
