1

Motivation

1) Mobile internet traffic and multimedia traffic are on the rise.

2) The mobile network does not readily take advantage of P2P

capabilities.

Testbed

19

Latency of ping test between peers with and without SAPOM

20

Latency of Skype call between peers with and without SAPOM

21

EPC congestion with and without SAPOM during Skype call

22

Future work

● Charging capabilities

● Deep packet inspection for lawful interception

● 5G standards

● Distributing across MTSOs (scaling)

23

Conclusion

● SAPOM - lightweight SDN architecture for offloading P2P traffic

○ 50% reduction of latency for P2P connections

○ Removes P2P traffic congestion for EPC
