Where do our pupils come from?

Ten associated primary schools:

Aboyne, Lumphanan, Crathie, Finzean,

Torphins, Tarland, Kincardine O’Neil,

Ballater, Braemar, Logie Coldstone

131 pupils expected in S1 in 2019.

School Roll of approximately 710.

Transition Process

Aims to be a supportive and positive process:

• DHT/HT visited Primaries in November 2018

• B Drennan (DHT) re-visited in March 2019

• Guidance Teachers will visit Primaries in May

• Primary 7 Parents’ Evening 25th April

• Pupils visits to the Academy in May and June

• Pupils start in August 2019

• Open day for Parents – September 2019 (Date TBC)

• Reports to Parents – Tracking and Full Reports

(Dates TBC)

• S1 Parents’ Evening (Date TBC)

Evaluation of Session 2017-18

Some key messages:-

• 4 days worked well. (Some wanted a lot more!)

• S3 Buddies were effective.

• Design a Board Game Project was well received.

• Information shared on Academy Website.

• School Handbook delivered earlier.

• Extended Transition programme amended this

year.

Presentation and begin ‘Design a Board Game’ Task.

Complete ‘Design a Board Game’; deliver to invited guests;

Team Building in the afternoon (CLD/S3 Buddies).

School Uniform

Aboyne Academy has an established school uniform and all pupils are expected to identify with

the school by wearing the uniform. Our pupils are generally very good at respecting the uniform

policy.

• The standard uniform is:

• Navy or black skirts (Very short skirts are not suitable from a modesty perspective) or black

trousers including smart black jeans (other colours of denim jeans are not permitted)

• White polo shirt with school badge

• Navy or black sweatshirt with school badge

• Or White shirt and navy or black V-neck jumper with school tie

• Sensible dark coloured footwear

• Sports kit should not be worn out with PE classes unless PE is period 6 in the day.

• Uniform orders can be placed directly with our suppliers at any time during the school

year. You can opt for either home delivery at a small charge or free delivery to the

• Some families may be entitled to a school clothing grant. More information about this can be
