Outline

New Level 1B dataset arrives (5 files) Manually created by BOMEM using L1 prototype “The dataset produced by Bomem with the new L1 prototype shows only the effect of using
restituded attitude files, whereas they do not include truncation of the interferogram. In any case they will be useful to assess the impact of using the restituded attitude ADF, especially regarding comparison of enginering Vs retrieved tangent altitude”
Orbit 17540 (8th July 2005) MIP_NL__1P_17540-RES_ATT.050708, RR 27 Sweeps Compare against MIP_NL__1P_17540-8cm-RES.050708
(25 Jan 06. The IGM WAS truncated to 8cm, avoiding undersampling)
Orbit 14404 (1st December 2004) MIP_NL__1P_14404-RES_ATT.041201, RR 17 Sweeps Compare against MIP_NL__1PTETB20041201_082603_000051392032_00322_14404_0000.N1
(17 Feb 2005)

Orbit 17540
Attempted MORSE retrieval for all the operational species. New RR MWs from Anu (not latest set) Other parameters similar to ‘normal’ retrieval Most profiles converged.
Investigate the difference at level 2 between the initial data and the 8cm truncated version.

Orbit 17540 – 8cm Truncated Difference
5-10 scans /90 differ.

Orbit 14404
Investigate changes in level 2 results due to changes in the prototype processor. Same orbit – 14404 1st version arrived Feb 2005 2nd version arrived Jan 2006 (Assuming that the newer file has actually been processed again)
No difference.

Summary
Oxford retrieval chain works with the new measurements Overlapping FOV Sweep counts other than 17 Lower spectral resolution data
RR data seems to retain a high scientific value. Most scans are successfully retrieved. No major artifacts from over sampling lower atmosphere. When can we see more L1B!..
Monitoring at Oxford continues. Recalculating all figures on the website to use the latest L2 processor
version data (4.62), although a large amount of 4.61 remains. Have a look.
