Windmill Hill• New centre (opened in 2009)
• Grade 2 listed mansion house set in 21 acres of grounds on the Sussex Downs
• Benefitted from a £7 million investment with purpose-built lodge accommodation and activity bases
• Includes a large sports hall (2000 square metres) and several small lakes
Year 6 trip• Multi-Activity Course
• Encourages team building, leadership skills and fostering independence
• Combines fun and personal development in a lively and supportive environment
• Children are kept busy from breakfast to bedtime with a huge variety of land and water based adventure activities
Year 6 trip• Each year we look at when the trip should be
run to:– Meet the needs of the year group
– Provide you the best value (we use a variety of discounts to keep your costs down)
– Take advantage of a variety of courses and options
• Group Leader will be Mr Carter (has taught almost all of the year group!)
Week overview• 07:00 – PGL staff wake up the group
• 08:00 – Breakfast (English or Continental, cereal, toast and drinks)
• 09:00 – First activity session
• 10:30 – Break
• 10:45 – Second activity session
• 12:15 – Hot lunch or packed lunch
• 13:45 – Third activity session
Week overview• 15:15 – Break
• 15:30 – Fourth activity session
• 17:00 – Supervised free time
• 17:30 – 2 course evening meal
• 19:00 – Evening entertainment
• 21:00 to 23:00 – PGL staff on active night duty (through the night there will always be a senior PGL staff member on call)
What they need• Activity week – so need robust, old clothing
• See kit list
• Includes:– Comfortable clothing for activities (including long
sleeves)
– Flat soled shoes (trainers are best)
– Old clothes and shoes for wet/muddy activities
– Nightwear
What they need• Includes:– Bedding (pillow and, sleeping bag or duvet and
sheet)
– Towel and wash kit
– Water bottle
– Small carry bag for activities
– Water proof jacket
– Camera (disposable are best)
Things to know• Strictly no mobile phones/internet enabled
devices• £5 limit spending money• ‘Grubby’ clothes for wet/muddy activities• Long sleeved top for some activities• Small bag to hold stuff• Activity week – children will need their sleep• Food – have to eat what is there (salad cart)
Trip booking• We have set a payment plan to meet the PGL
payment deadlines
• The deadline for the Parent Consent Form and £40 deposit is Friday the 18th of October
• We will then send out payment cards, which will allow you to pay in instalments
Documentation• Parent Consent Form
• Medicine Consent Form– Medicines will be required a week before the trip
– Medicines will be kept and administered by the group leader
