Key Ideas

Towns and other nucleated settlements are distributed throughout the country in

different patterns. There are many reasons for this.

Can you think of some???

Today we are going to look at the historical and social factors of the distribution of towns.

Historic factors:

Settled along the east and south coasts of Ireland

Many of these early settlements developed into towns
