Pendahuluan
Tutorial IBM SPSS Statistics mengenai pemrograman ini akan mencakup 24 bagian yaitu
bagian Reports, Descriptive Statistics, Tables, Compare Means, General Linear Model,
Generalized Linear Models, Mixed Models, Correlate, Regression, Loglinear, Neural
Networks, Classify, Dimension Reduction, Scale, Nonparametric Tests, Forecasting,
Survival, Multiple Response, Missing Value Analysis, Multiple Imputation, Complex
Samples, Quality Control, ROC Curve, Direct Marketing, dan Graphs. Ruang lingkup
tutorial ini adalah lengkap dan merupakan hal baru di Indonesia karena memakai cara
pemrograman.
Pembahasan dalam bagian ini mencakup pembahasan mengenai Tables. Pembahasan ini
mencakup Custom Tables dan Multiple Response Sets. Berbagai prosedur telah dapat
menghasilkan berbagai ragam tabel. Custom Table merupakan modul yang menawarkan
ciri-ciri khusus dalam merancang tabel untukmendukung berbagai ragam bentuk laporan.
Banyak ciri dari custom table terutama bermanfaat untuk analisis hasil survey dan
penelitian pemasaran.
Custom Tables dan Chart Builder dapat mendukung suatu jenis variabel tertentu yang
dinamakan suatu multiple response set. Multiple response sets sesungguhnya bukan
variabel dalam pengertian biasa. Variabel ini tidak dapat dilihat dalam Data Editor dan
prosedur-prosedur lain juga tidak mengenal multiple response sets ini. Multiple response
ses memakai variabel jamak untuk mencatat tanggapan-tanggapan pada pertanyaan-
pertanyaan di mana responden dapat memberkan lebih daripada satu jawaban. Multiple
response sets diperlakukan sebaai variabel-variabel kategorikal dan sebagian besar dari
variabel ini sejalan dengan variabel-variabe; kategorikal atau variabel-variabel kualitatif.
Multiple response sets dibentuk dari variabel jamak dalam arsip data. Suatu multiple
response set adalah suatu konstruk khusus di dalam suatu arsip data. Orang dapat
menentukan dan menyimpan multiple response sets dala arsip data IBM SPSS Statistics
akan tetapi orang tersebut tidak apat mengimpor atau mengekspor multiple response sets
dari bentuk arsip data lain. Orang dapat juga menggandakan multiple response sets dari
arsip data SPSS Statistics lain dengan cara memakai Copy Data Properties yang dapat
diakses dari menu Data dalam jendela Data Editor.

Rangkuman
Menu Tables mengandung dua peluang pilihan yaitu Custom Tables dan Multiple
Response Sets. Pemrograman dapat dilakukan untuk mencipta informasi mengenai
Custom Tables dan Multiple Respose Sets. Arsip data yang dipakai adalah Dasar.sav dan
berdasar atas arsip data ini kemudian dicipta sintaksis untuk Custom Tables dan Multiple
Response Sets. Hasil pelaksanaan sintaksis yang telah dicipta juga disajikan. Hal ini
berarti bahwa proses pengolahan data terdiri dari unsur data itu sendiri, sintaksis, dan
hasil pelaksanaan sintaksis (inputs, process, outputs). Hasil yang diperoleh tidak akan
bermakna jika kualitas data yang dipakai adalah sangat tendah sejalan dengan konsep
garbage in, garbage out.
Penyajian sintaksis mengenai tabel dalam IBM SPSS Statistics mencakup Custom Tables
dan Multiple Response Sets dapat dipakai untuk mencipta berbagai jenis tabel. Tabel
memainkan peranan penting dalam menunjang kegiatan politik, ekonomi, budaya, sosial,
keuangan, manajemen, pemasaran, kesehatan, epidemiolgi, dan sebagainya. Sintaksis di
atas disusun berdasar atas beberapa gaya pemrograman (programming style). Tiga arsip
data dipakai dalam satu sintaksis gabungan. Sintaksis gabungan ini sebenarnya terdiri
dari beberapa sintaksis mandiri.
Sintaksis di atas jika diketik secara tepat dan benar ke dalam Syntax Editor dan kemudian
disimpan. Data yang disajikan juga diketik kemudian disimpan. Sintaksis itu kemudian
dapat dijalankan dengan cara mengaktifkan menu Run dan kemudian memilih peluang
All. Pelaksanaan sintaksis adalah Run>All.
