Theworkwasdividedintotwoparts:1)newphilologicalreconstructionoftheLibertogetherwithastatementofalltheidentifiablesourcesusedbyThomasdeCantimpré, thecompiler;2)commentaryof theLiber,analysingandexplaining thecultureof the FlemishDominican through the sources andhow theywere chosenand combined together. ByobservingtheexplicitandimplicitsourcesandtherelationshipbetweenThomas’workandtheencyclopedismoftheMiddleAges, theaimsofdeCantimpréwere reconstructedand theencyclopediawasplacedanddated in themedievalculturewithmuchmoreaccuracy.
