What is a Perspective?
What is a Perspective?
It’s a visual representation of the way we see things in real life onto a 2D surface (ie. paper, screen, your mom’s tax bills).
Perspective
What is a vanishing point?
Perspective
What is a vanishing point?“The point on the horizon line at which lines or edges that are parallel appear to converge.”
Look up at the ceiling.
Perspective
What is a horizontal line?
Perspective
What is a horizontal line?“ The line in a perspective
drawing where the sky meets the ground. It also
represents the viewer’s eye level.”
The placement of the line on the picture plane depends on the vantage point of the artist.
For example, if the artist is low to the ground, the horizon line is low on the picture plane.
This is also known asWorms Eye View

For example, if the artist is high to the ground, the horizon line is high on the picture plane.
This is also known asBirds Eye View

Which one of these looks strange?
ISOMETRIC VERSUS FORESHORTENINGIsometric is a different way of representing 3D objects onto 2D. Axes (x, y, z dimensions) are equal.
Foreshortening occurs when an object appears compressed when seen from a particular viewpoint, and the effect of perspective causes distortion.
