Dear parents,
Monday, 24th September, 2018
Dear Parents We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Thank you for your continued support with the education of our students. Please be reminded that school resumes on Monday, 15th October for all students. There will be no homework requirements in Week 10 due to our concert on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Thank you - APS staff KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS Staff will be required to record contact details and personal information regarding your child before an enrolment form is given so please do not send older siblings, neighbours etc. to collect a form. Please note: birth certificate, immunisation and proof of address must be provided with the completed enrolment form. Proof of address must be council land rates or lease agreement. Important: lease agreements must be current when the child starts school, ie February 2019. KINDERGARTEN 2019 PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT The Kindergarten 2019 parent information session will be held on Tuesday, 16th October, 2018. There will be a walk around the school at 5.45pm and the information session will be from 6pm to 7pm in the school hall. URSTRONG We’re excited to be hosting URSTRONG, an internationally recognised Social Emotional Wellbeing program, that empowers children with the skills, language and self-confidence to be better friends and develop healthier relationships. To learn more about URSTRONG and their programmes, go to their website and watch a short video describing the impact of URSTRONG on children and parents around the globe. URSTRONG’s Language of Friendship parent-child workshops will take place on Wednesday, 7th November, 2018. More details regarding this workshop are included in this newsletter. This past year, our entire school has been focusing on social-emotional learning programs, implementing tools and strategies to support our efforts in creating a safe and caring school. We believe that empowering our students with these skills will create a school community where children are better able to manage their relationships in a safe and respectful environment. VARIETY CONCERT TICKETS are now on sale. Evening tickets are now sold out. Details on how to purchase tickets are included in this newsletter. CREATIVE CRITTERS – TERM 4 Due to the high interest in Creative Critters, we have divided the program into two sessions. We are offering a 6-week version of the program in Term 4. If you were unable to attend in Term 3 and are interested in the program, please contact the school office. Please note there are limited spaces available. Over the term, we have enjoyed getting to know all the children. We have enjoyed watching their skills develop as part of their reading and maths warm-up, making new friends and learning about the different places around the school. We look forward to the last few weeks with these children before we see them again at our Kindergarten Orientation sessions in Term 4. Mrs O’Neill and Miss Staniland

PBL Launch 2018
During 2018, the PBL committee have been in consultation with staff, students and families about a revamp of the school values, awards and
mascot. On Thursday, 25th October, the school will be holding a PBL launch day where these positive changes will be revealed.
Students will have the opportunity to order a Subway lunch for the day, order forms will be sent out this week and will need to be returned by
Friday, 19th October.
Students are naming our new mascot this week and the new mascot and new awards will start in Term 4. Students who have previous Shamrock awards will be able to trade them for our new awards.
We look forward to seeing parents and carers on
Thursday, 25th October, as we share our PBL launch with our community.
Further details of the whole day will be sent home in Term 4, Week 1.

P&C News
Dates to Remember 18 September P&C Meeting 16 October P&C Meeting 20 November P&C Meeting Colour Run Colour Run prizes have been received and were distributed on Friday to those children who raised money. If your child was away, your teacher has your prizes. Congratulations Ashtonfield, we raised a total of $16245.00! All money raised goes towards the purchase of STEM equipment for the use of all students. A special mention goes to our highest fundraisers. Volunteers Just a reminder to everyone that the P&C is made up entirely of Volunteers generously giving up their time for the school. Volunteers who do this while also juggling work, life and family commitments. Volunteers who do a lot of work behind the scenes organising just as an example Colour run prizes, trying to get new canteen supervisor, running the uniform shop, taking on executive roles, going to meetings and organising the APS Christmas Party. Volunteers doing the best they can. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped in some way this year. Without your help, the success of these events would not be possible. Canteen Supervisor The P&C are currently looking to employ a Casual Canteen Supervisor. If you or someone you know would be interested in applying, please go to www.seek.com.au for further details.
