History of Photographic Education

Begart Institute of Photography was established in 1960 by Manzur Alam Beg which is the First Ever Photography School in Bangladesh.

Manzur Alam Beg founded Rajshahi Photography Society(RPS) with Farid Akter Porag to create some professional photographers in Rajshahi in 1984 as it was his birth place as a movement of photography.

In 1993 Rafiqul Islam established Prism for publishing Books on Photography and started training on photography.

Pathshala (The South Asian Media Academy and Institute of Photography) was founded by Shahidul Alam in 1998 which is one of the biggest and famous Institute of Photographic Education in South Asia.
