Photoshop skills

Magic wand tool and lasso tool

I used these tools to remove the background, this means I can manipulate the model without changing the colour of the background. This is good because I can make him stand out more.

Channel mixer

I manipulated the colour balance to make certain colour stand out more but give a slightly duller tone, to match conventions of rock music

covers. This also means bright text (master head, cover lines ect.) stand out more.

Spot healing brush tool

The model had a lot of spots so I used this tool to remove them to provide the idea of

perfection that comes from the magazine.

Burn tool

I used this tool to make the background darker, this makes the model and any added text stand

out more and adds more depth to the cover (maker the magazine look thicker so more

value for money)

Clone tool

The necklace was draped at a weird angle and I decided against it so I used the clone tall to

cover up where the necklace was.

Curves tool

I used the curve tool to edit the colour, making it darker. This is more appropriate for the target

audience and more professional.

InDesign skills

Drop shadow

I added drop shadow to the master head to help it to stand out more and add depth to the

cover, making it more eye catching

Bevel and emboss

I did this to the lure to make it more eye catching so people are more likely to see it and

want the prise so will by the magazine

Directional feather

I added directional feather to the purple triangle so the hypotenuses would fade from triangle to picture, making the cover look less

sharp and more welcoming.

Opacity

I changed the opacity of a box to help some of the cover lines stand out from the background

image.

Clipping path

I removed the background from some pictures for the contents page so I could have make it so

the model heads comes out of the picture, making the magazine look more profeshinal.
