Photoshop Tutorial 1

To open an image in Photoshop:Go to File-Open

Find the image you wish to open in your computer, then double click the image or highlight it and click open

To adjust the image size and resolution:Go to Image-Image Size from the menu bar

Then adjust the width and height constraints to the desired size in the Image size window as shown. Make sure you are changing the width and height in the Document Size portion of the window like above.

Then change the resolution of the image in the resolution box to the resolution of your choice.

Once you have !nished changing the size of the image click ok and the image will now be the size you dictated.

To make the image clearer and sharper: There are a combination of image manipulation tools to adjust the clarity and color of the image.The !rst is Levels, to access the levels tool go to Image-Adjustments-Levels

Levels manipulates the outputs on the image, to adjust move the three arrows to experiment with how they a"ect the image.

Experiment with di"erent arrow positions to make the image more vivid and sharper. Once done click OK.

The next is Hue/Saturation, To access this tool go to Image-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation

Hue/Saturation adjusts the color output of the image. Here you can make one or more colors more prominent than another. Experiment with the saturation of the di"erent colors to make the image more or less vibrant

You can also change all the colors in the image by selecting the master preset in the window and adjusting the saturation slide to make the col-ors stand out more.

The third tool is Color Balance and it can be accessed through the same way as the others: Image-Adjustments-Color Balance

Color Balance changes the overall Balance of colors within the image. You can experiment with adjusting the slides to make one color more prominent in the image than another until the desired e"ect is reached.

Once you !nish and you decide you want to resize the picture you can use the crop tool from the left side toolbar. Select it then change the width and height to the desired size in the top portion of the window (See Above). It also allows you to change the resolution while you crop as well.

These boxes are used to control the output size and resolution of the crop tool.

Once the desired size has been input, drag and select the area you wish to crop then hit enter or the check mark in the top toolbar to !nish cropping the image.
