PICADORJULY– DECEMBER 2015
WWW.PICADORUSA.COM
Dear Readers, Booksellers, Reviewers, and Other Friends of Picador,This year we celebrate Picador’s twentieth anniversary in the United States, a good time to look back and to look forward.
Originally founded in 1995 as a publishing house for sophisticated hardcover fiction and nonfiction and for many Macmillan authors in their paperback lives, Picador is now home to a pantheon of incredibly talented authors, with a list of more than 1,500 titles, and 120-plus new titles, both original and reprints, published each year.
In these twenty years, Picador has done many things: rode the wave of the golden age of reprint paperback publishing, published widely in original fiction and nonfiction across formats (hardcover, paperback original, and digital) and played a part in the growth and establishment of many important voices. Is twenty years long enough to declare a book a Classic? We think so and, with that in mind, keep an eye out this fall for the limited editions of four of our cornerstone books in our pocket-friendly Picador Modern Classics line (page 7).
In among all the changes and evolutions of the past two decades, we’ve not waivered in our commitment to great writers and great writing; to writers who provoke and challenge with fresh ideas and insights; to writers who tell stories and create characters who take us places we’ve never been and show us new ways to see and experience what we thought was familiar.
Great publishing is a collective effort with the author and their work at its heart. In the years ahead we plan to continue to play our part in bringing you more brilliant books from brilliant writers and hope that you will continue to join us in being part of this mission. In the pages ahead, please find a selection of our titles–—from both new and established voices–—for the second half of 2015. Enjoy.
All best wishes,
Stephen Morrison Publisher, Picador stephen.morrison@picadorusa.com

“This is by far the best debut novel I’ve read in years . . . a Western in disguise; a quiet, limpid Western, where the action mostly takes place in the air and in the chambers of the heart.
To me, it reads like the reclusive disciple of Cormac McCarthy and de Saint-Exupéry.” –— J O A N N E H A R R I S ,
