ABOUTTHECOURSE

FewdesignorganizationsaswellaseminentpipingengineersjoinedhandswithIITBombayandmethodicallydesignedaformalCertificateCourseonPipingEngineeringforthecoursehashadafairytalelikejourneyandisthemostsoughtaftercourseintheengineeringcircles.Thecoursehasundergonecontinuousrevisions,helpedtoalargeextentbyoptimalmixtureoftheoryandpractice.TheinstructionhoursaresharedbyIITfacultyandspeakersfromindustry,thelatterplayingasignificantrole.TheactivitywasinstitutionalizedthroughtheformationofaPipingnowconductsthiscourse.TheacceptanceofthecoursebytheindustryhasvirtuallyforcedthehandsofvarioussoftwarehousesandthePipingEngineeringCellhasnowacollectionofmostextensivelyusedduringthecourse.Theopencourseisconductedtwiceeveryyear,thewintereditionbeginninginthefirstorsecondweekofDecemberandtheSummereditioninthefirstorsecondweekofMay.Thesearecalendarevents.theSummer2015courseisnowopen.PleasenotethatthemediumofinstructioninthecourseisEnglish.

Multimediateachingaidsareincorporated.Thisallowsdisplayofthreedimensionalplantmodels,carryingoutcomputeraideddesignandengineeringintheclassroomitself,showingvideoclippingstosupportapointetc.Atthesametime,allcareistakentoemphasizeonteachingratherthanonpresentation.CertificateofParticipationwillbeissuedtothecandidateswhohaveregisteredandparticipatedinthecourse.
