What is a pirate?

• Pirates are thieves who rob at sea.

• Some pirates do this just for fun.

• Some pirates are hired by countries to steal things from their enemies.

Telescope

•Pirates used telescopes or “spy glasses” to search for ships to steal treasure from.

•They also used the telescope to search the stars to help them navigate their sailing course.

What did pirates steal?

• Pirates stole treasure. They stole jewels, gold, and anything else they could.

• Pirates called this stolen treasure “pirate’s booty.”
