PV Messages Message from Co-Op President
FRANk FIELDSPV Residents, This past month has been a hot one. Hopefully the hu-midity will soon start to diminish and folks will be able to enjoy all the outdoor activities that are available. Merry has done a good job at having the pool deck resurfaced and residents are back to enjoying the pool again. A couple more new houses have been completed and the new residents are moving in. We hope they will enjoy our community as much as the rest of us do. There will be two more new houses coming in this month. One for Kathy Weir at 16 Peach, and a model home for 265 Coconut. Some of the snowbirds will be coming back soon and we welcome them back. Merry is looking into some more ways to make security at Plantation Village better for all residents. I hope everyone has another great month and as always, look out for your neighbor.

PV MessagesMessage from PV Manager
MERRY SINACOREHi, Everyone, We have just finished the painting on the pool deck. It is a paint that needs to be cured so I am asking everyone to NOT drag any of the chairs or lounges on the deck. It will mark up the deck. I do appreciate your patience and cooperation with the pool closed. It is now back, so enjoy. We have planted some of the palms we intend to put around the community. It has been a struggle because of the weather the planting of these trees has been delayed many times. We will now continue to plant additional palms around the Park. Our rainy season is over so everything should be dry and the landscapers will be able to do a better job. They have been working very hard to ensure they do a great job on the lawns and common areas. You must remember, no one is perfect, so please give them some slack. We have had some unwanted visitors. They have been young people who have decided to see what PV is all about. Ron and I have literally run them out of this park, escorted them and told them if they return, the police will be called. If you see someone who does not belong here, you should call the police; they will make trips through the park and that in itself will be enough to make them think-I do not want to go there. SOOO, we are installing cameras on the fence line. We will be able to see who and when someone enters the park through the fence line and hopefully go after them by giving this info to the police. We all must be vigilant and if we see something, call the police, they will respond and investigate.
Message from MHOA PresidentREGIS THORNTON
Thank you to the PV residents who pitched in and put together a last-minute Labor Day celebration with a potluck dinner and fun games to play. Everyone who participated was able to enjoy good food, challenging games, and amazing friends and neighbors. We are still in need of a volunteer to step up to become the next “Coffee Social Organizer”. Roger Nelson has volunteered his time to assist the new person with the duties and steps involved with this assign-ment. Volunteering is fun and rewarding. Please contact either Roger Nelson or myself if you are interested. Remember it is still Hurricane Season, so be prepared. Keep watching your local news and weather broadcasts for warnings of any Tropical Storms or Hurricanes. Our next major event is the Halloween Bash on October 26th being organized by Karen Harmon, who was very successful in last year’s endeavor. We are looking forward to the dance and trying to guess who is behind those in-credible masks and costumes. It will be fun for everyone!

Restaurant Review: JOTO JAPANESE STEAk HOUSE
by Debbie Thornton**** (4.4 stars) $$$(moderate pricing)
Regis and I were lucky enough to visit the Joto Japanese Steak House located at 7971 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL during the month of September. We went there on a Thursday evening during the “off season”. The restaurant has two sides to it – one where the chefs cook the food in front of you on a hot grill and the other where you sit at tables without the show. We selected the latter since there were just the two of us and that way we could talk and enjoy each other’s company. The server greeted us and explained they had two menus – one which is the same as the Chef’s grill and the other menu having other options. We both chose items from the Chef’s grill – Regis ordered the Steak and Scallops and I ordered the Chicken and Shrimp. The service was excellent with the waitress arriving with our hot tea and ice waters as requested. The hot tea was very satisfying. Next came the traditional Japanese soup and salad with ginger dressing, both of which were very good, but neither one “over-the-top”. The waitress had already brought us three sauces for our dinners – white sauce, mustard sauce, and ginger sauce. The white sauce was delicious with the seafood and the mustard sauce was very good with the meat. We felt the ginger sauce was a little strong and over-powering. The dinners were served with fried rice and an array of Japanese vegetables. Both the shrimp and scallops were a little on the smaller side, however, they were cooked prop-erly and very tasty. Regis’ steak was done medium rare as requested and my chicken was well-seasoned. We found the overall dinners to be delicious and noted that we would definitely return to this restaurant for a second time. The portions were good size and we took some of our dinner home. We did not order dessert. We suggest you give this restaurant a try and let us know how you like it.

Potluck Newsby Derissa Atlakson
We had a good turnout for the first potluck of the season. It was so nice to see people just sit and visit with one another, getting to know your neighbors. Hope to see more of you back and coming out to the October 8th potluck. As always, bring a dish to share along with your table service and drink. Please sign up in the mail area.
Bingo Broadcastby Bill Thompson
Well, here we are already for another great season. The first night back we had 88 people.
What a great turnout. The next week not so much, but I know it will get better as the people come back to the South. Always nice to see everyone’s smiling faces. Don’t forget every 3rd Friday we will have our famous bar-b-que. Everyone is so excited to have that back. So mark your calendar for every Friday night Bingo. I do plan on you all coming up Friday night to the club house to play, or at least come say hello, we would love to see you. Until next time, remember . . . HAPPY BINGOING!!!

Viva La France. Paulette Videauby Kay Luczak
I’d like to tell you a little bit about the person I’ve chosen for this month, her name is Paulette Videau. Paulette is from Hudson, New Hampshire, where she went to boarding school at Presentation of Mary Academy. She became a feature writer for a magazine when she was 16. Her writ-ings became very well-known, and she was cited as the youngest French feature writer in North America. Upon graduation, she was notified by Coty Perfumes that she had been chosen by Coty and the French government to visit France and to tell the young people in schools and colleges about life in the United States. She sailed on the lle de France and arrived in Paris, which became her head-quarters. Coty gave her unlimited funds while she was traveling so that she would be able to attend any and all functions available to her, with respect to French girls. After 6 months, she returned to the United States and picked up her sister Mimi who then accompanied Paulette on her next trip to France. While the girls again took the lle de France, they found that Ginger Rogers was also on board this time, on her way to marry a Frenchman. Mimi and Paulette each met a Frenchman while on this trip who they each married over in France where they both resided for the next 5 years. When Paulette returned to the states, she went to work for French Bank of the West in San Francisco, where she dealt only with French people. While there she was invited to attend a number of large functions for the President of the Republic of France. Should you get a chance to visit with Paulette, ask to see her book on her trips abroad and ask her to speak a little French. I think the French have a beautiful way with words.

Fall In Florida by Debbie Thornton
It’s an October day and very warm; the childhood autumn I remember does not come.
There are no leaves to rake, no winter clothes to rotate. This is Florida, after all, isn’t it great!
The rainy season has come to an end, the fall festivals and farmers’ markets begin.
The beach is a wonderful place to be, not crowded at all and plenty to see.A breath of fresh air is available now
for walking, biking, and sight-seeing, too.Yes, it is Fall in Florida,
and there are a lot of fun things to do.
