To record, edit and publish a short podcast

background Popularized in August 2004 Enabled by two elements:

RSS enclosures (Really Simple Syndication) Podcasting software and services

Initially one show style podcast available:“Daily Source Code” with Adam Curry

2007: 20 million podcasts; today? unclear

All mainstream media is podcasting 2005: Apple added podcast support to

iTunes

Educational benefits Easy to create Unlimited creativity… historical

reenactments, interviews, panel debates, dramatic pieces, standup comedy, music dj shows, performances, radio play, lessons and lectures etc.

Teaches marketable skills: planning, production, editing, public speaking, design, engineering, teamwork, etc.

Can lead to post secondary opportunities in audio production, broadcasting, journalism, web design, engineering, etc.

Helps motivate kids. Gives them a voice. Teaches Media Literacy skills.
