I have always had a basic interest in environmental responsibility so pursing my LEED accreditation was a natural step for my career. I feel that environmental design is the future of our industry.
The step from passing the LEED Exam to actually working on a LEED project is a big jump. Fortunately I have had the opportunity to play the role of LEED Project Administrator for a project that originally set out for LEED Certification

Louis City Office Renovation of a building purchased from the federal government allows the City of St. Louis to consolidate many of their off-site offices into a new central office location near City Hall. The consolidation of these offices will be a great benefit to the City since the close proximity of the offices allow for very efficient office interaction. Louis City The original intent for this projects was to achieve LEED Certification. Due to unforeseen cost associated with renovation, such as asbestos abatement & mechanical system replacement, the budget didn’t allow for the project to officially be registered with the USGBC. However the project was still designed following the green principles outlined by the LEED rating system. Listed below are some of the sustainable design features included in this project:
Sustainable site: Close proximity to bus stops and MetroLink, Reduce heat island by all parking being under the building, community connectivity
Materials and Resources: Reuse of the original building structure, construction waste management, Reuse of existing systems furniture, 40% recycled content in carpet
Energy and Atmosphere: Motion sensors on lights & Upgrades to the mechanical systems
Indoor Environmental Quality: Use of low emitting materials & Mechanical system filtration during construction
