OverviewPurpose

To learn how to use the animation function in Microsoft PowerPoint

Scenario

You are giving a presentation to the NCAA on the importance of funding soccer for local high schools. The presentation is going to explain the top five reasons why soccer is better than most team sports.

Animating Paragraph Text Entrance Open powerpoint_animations_example.pptx

Click Enable Editing

Animating Paragraph Text Entrance Click inside the text box

Click the Animations tab

Click the Add Animation drop down

Click the Fade entrance option

Animating Paragraph Text Entrance Click Animation Pane (the animation pane will display)

Click the Content Place dropdown

Click Effect Options…

Animating Paragraph Text Entrance Click the Text Animation tab

Click the Group Text dropdown

Select By 3rd Level Paragraphs

Click OK (this will now animate each line of text separately on mouse click)

Animating Object Entrance Click on Slide 2

Click on the Second Soccer Ball

Click on the Add Animation dropdown

Click the Fade entrance option (repeat steps 15-17 for the third & fourth soccer balls)

Animating Object Exit Click on the First Soccer Ball

Click on the Add Animation dropdown

Click the Fade exit option (repeat steps 18-20 for the second & third soccer balls)

Modifying Animation Timing In the Animation Pane, click and drag the Pictures 4 & 5 exit

timing after Picture 5 & 6 entrance timing

Animation sequence should look like this

Preview Slideshow Press the F5 key to preview your presentation

Slide 1: after each button click, each line of the paragraph should appear

Slide 2: after each button click, the second soccer ball should appear, then the first soccer ball disappear and so on, giving the appearance that the ball is moving from the left to the right of the screen. If it does not appear as such, then you need to adjust your entrance/exit timing for each picture.
