SHOT TYPES

HIGH ANGLE SHOT

High angle shot is good to use in movies and

images because it shows who has the power in the

situation.

Also sometimes it gives the audience the clue that

someone is being watched .

Sometimes shows the important characters.

LOW ANGLE SHOT

Low angle shots are also used to show who has power in

the scene.

Usually villains in the films are shown using the low angle

shot because it makes them look larger and unnatural and

been watched by someone who is small and most commonly

scared of whats going to happen next.

It also gives a clue that the monster/villain is going to

attack the small person.

LONG SHOT

Shows characters in some distance.

Long shot is usually used to show the main

characters back and the setting where the film will

take place.

EXTREME CLOSE UP

Extreme close up is usually used to show an

important prop, gesture or movement of contact

between characters

MEDIUM SHOT

Medium shot shows the characters waist upwards.

This is good because the audience will be able to see

the reactions that the actors give. Most of the time

used to show people in a conversation.

CLOSE UP

This shot is a shot from a person ‘s head and

shoulders.

Not too much of background detail should appear.

It is usually used to make an characters emotions

appear.

EXTREME LONG SHOT

This is used to show buildings or distance places.

Its also used as a view of the point of view of an

character looking out over. Used quite a lot in horror

movies to show that something's coming towards the

character.
