Programme Overview

Donors: The Netherlands, EU, USA, Qatar, Australia, Japan, and India

UNOCT’s global flagship initiative with partners: CTED, UNODC, ICAO,OICT, and INTERPOL assisting 40 Member States

Objectives: To assist Member States in building their capacities to prevent,detect, and investigate terrorist offences and other serious crimes,including their related travel, by collecting and analyzing passenger dataand enhancing operational information through the establishment of PIUs(Passenger Information Units) in accordance with SCRs 2178, 2396,and 2482.

Comprehensive assistance provided on:

Needs assessment

Legislative assistance

Set-up of a PIU and delivery of training

Establishing carrier engagement and connectivity

Technical support and deployment of ‘goTravel’

12 countries have received assessmentssince Programme launch

12 roadmaps, and 1 regional workplanwith CARICOM, developed sinceProgramme launch

15 countries (through CARICOMIMPACS) testing goTravel software

At least 8 upcoming assessments for2021 including Mongolia, Morocco,Iraq, DRC, South Africa
