1. Casting • In this process, a liquid material is usually poured into a mould,

which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify.

The solidified part is known is as a CASTING. Which is ejected or broken out of the mold to complete the process.

2. FURNACE •Furnace is used for melting the metal . •HMT has 3 furnaces, two of 3MT capacity and one of 1.5MT

capacity •All furnaces are induction type & temperature in the furnaces

reaches up to 1400-1450˚C

3.MOULDING SAND•Moulding sand is defined as the granules particles Resulting from the breakdown of rocks.•moulding sand is also known is foundary sand.

•Main constituents of moulding sand- 1. Silica sand :- Silica 86-90% Alumina 4-8% Iron oxide 2-5%And other smaller oxide Ti, Mn and Ca 2. Green Sand :- Bentonite Clay 50-60% pulverized coal 30-40% Water As require

4.SAND MOULD

•Sand mould is a preformed sand container into which molten metal poured and allowed to solidify.

•After casting it is removed from sand mould about after 24 hours. sand mould generally destroyed.

Heat Treatment Section

• Heat treatment is expensive and long process. •In the heat treatment three point are important for this process:- 1. Time 2. Temprature 3. Material code ( which mattle use) -:Operation:- 1. Carburising:- material code - C2R,C2A,C2M Box Carburising - 850°C (8 hour ) Liquid Carburising - 1751C (4- 5 hours )

2.Harding:- material code - T1,T2,T5,T8,C45,C1 etc. Tempreature - 840-860°C ( 12- 14 hours )

3.ASSEMBLY

• K130 :- This is a cylindrical grinding machine. Here alphabet K represent the scientist “Keuring” And Numerical value indicates the maximum diameter of work-piece from ground.
