connectionThe
Let me begin by saying how blessed my wife and I feel to beyour pastors. Nine months ago, our family moved here excited
to join you on this journey of faith. We never would have beenable to predict the love, support and encouragement we havereceived from so many of you. Thank you so much!!!
In January, I spoke to you prophetically by the Holy Spirit, that we would gain momentum this year. Over the last severalweeks, we have witnessed a shift in the atmosphere, and theHoly Spirit is moving and touching lives in a powerful way. OurFirst Annual Good Friday Miracle and Healing Service was noexception. The presence of the Holy Spirit was so thick andtangible! We saw many miracles and healings take place. Peoplehad their arms grow by an inch or more…lower backs, shoulders, hips, and many more ailments were noticeably changed! Howwonderful! So many others were touched in a supernatural way!
Now, we are headed into a season where I believe we aregoing to experience a heightened awareness of the healing anddelivering power of God! The Glory Cloud is descending, andGod desires to set His people free! John 8:36 says, "Therefore,if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." We arecoming out of bondage, and there is no going back!
I believe we are going to step in to a season of great soulwinning. I believe we are going to see a great increase in firsttime salvation for the unchurched of Toledo! We must begin toprepare now for how we will effectively minister to them when

they arrive. How will we accomplishthis? It will only take place when everysingle one of us steps up and fulfillsour role in the House! As we progressthrough this year, I want you to askyourselves a very real and honestquestion…"What can I do to serve in theHouse?" Every one of us can dosomething! The old adage istrue…"Many hands make light work!" Ifall of us would commit to serving, thework load lightens, and serving becomes a blessing and not aburden! A big shout out goes to Pastor Brent and Jessica Allanand The Fire Youth Group! They all have sacrificially given oftheir time and talents! I believe the rest of us can take inspirationfrom them and begin to serve and be faithful with a heart of joy!
One of the secrets to being a healthy and vibrant church isgiving! Giving of our time…our talent…and our treasure! Let'stake time to take inventory of our lives and let the Holy Spiritshow each of us what we can do to make preparations toeffectively minister to our church and the community where Hehas placed us! Thank you in advance for doing your part! Welove and appreciate all of you!
By Pastor Kimberly Marr
I would like to give a big shout out to all of those who servedby giving of their time, talents, or treasure to make our 2014
Women's Retreat, Remove the Mask, the success that it was!We had a great time together worshipping and praying, soakingin God's Word, laughing, and crying together. Our guest speaker,Anna Aquino, commented to me that she was impressed byhow the ladies of CBC received the vision for this year's retreatand ran with it! That's a genuine compliment coming from agenuine heart.
I would like to pose this question to you today: what do youwear to church? Now, to many this may automatically take ourminds back to the days of legalism, "clothesline" preaching, and the like. Many grew up being taught that women shouldn'twear pants at all, but definitely not in church, or that one'ssalvation was dependent upon whether or not they wore their
"Sunday Best" every time they entered the church building. Then, there's the other extreme that says that no one should enjoydressing up and therefore we should all only wear jeans andmore relaxed clothing to church. For the purpose of this article, let's put aside our individual ideas about proper attire for churchand instead, let's focus on examining what we're wearingspiritually when we come to the House of God.
Having been saved since 1994, I have been in a few churchservices to say the least. I've been in different types of churchesin various regions of our country and also different countries. One thing that I've noticed is that many come in wearing exactlythe same thing. Not physical clothing, but spiritual clothing. They may all be dressed in different style trends, different fabricsand colors, but have this piece of spiritual attire in common: a

spirit of heaviness. We've all been there. We've all had those mornings, those days, or those weekswhere we've experienced discouragement. Maybe it is a work situation, maybe it is the fact that yourchildren or spouse were less than easy to motivate to get to church on time, maybe you've experienceda loss in your family and still find yourselfa year later struggling to cope with theregular routine of daily life. Whatever thecase, all of those situations will weighus down if we allow them to. God's Wordspeaks in Isaiah 61:3 of a "garment ofpraise for the spirit of heaviness". This ishonestly easier said than donedepending upon how long you've beenwearing the spirit of heaviness. Thegarment of praise is not something thatjust magically appears because we thinkof it, wish for it, or pray for it. It issomething that must be "put on". Just like we put on our physical clothing, we must also put on thegarment of praise. This means that we must take action. Praise in and of itself is active. In fact, I justrecently read a news story about a 10 year old boy who was snatched and kidnapped from his ownfront yard. The kidnapper eventually dropped him off with someone after 3 hours of having the childwith him simply because he couldn't stand to hear the child anymore. Was the 10 year old boy cryingor screaming, throwing a fit, unconsolable at the thought of never seeing his parents again or possiblybeing mistreated, abused, or killed? NO! This brave little boy PRAISED GOD for 3 hours straight inthat car! He sang the same praise song for 3 hours, not giving up, but I believe encouraging himself inthe Lord. The following is a portion of the words from the song that he was reported having sung("Every Praise" by Hezekiah Walker)
Every praise is to our God.Every word of worship with one accordEvery praise every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our GodGlory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise every praise is to our GodGod my SaviorGod my Healer
God my DelivererYes He is, yes He is
This child praised his way right through that situation! Just like in 2 Chronicles 20:21-23, when thepeople praised God going into battle, God set up ambushes against the enemies. The enemiesbecame confused, turned on each other and killed one another. God's people were victorious! Theypraised right on through in the midst of a heated battle. The little boy I described above praised hisway through for 3 hours until the kidnapper could no longer take it. I love this story. It shows the basicconcept of putting on the garment of praise. Was this child scared? Probably, because most adultswould have been frightened. Did he feel alone in the battle? Probably, just like many adults do. Did heknow how to encourage himself in the Lord? Absolutely! Was there a moment initially when he had tochoose to sing that song and exchange the spirit of heaviness that was attempting to overtake him forthe garment of praise? Possibly.
Let's all allow ourselves to be taught a valuable lesson by this child's testimony: we can defeat theenemy with our praise! The Word of God is a weapon that we can use against the enemy, but likewe're shown in 2 Chronicles, our praise is also a weapon against the enemy. Sometimes merely sayingthe name of Jesus will change the atmosphere. Other times, it may seem like a steeper hill to climb torid yourself of discouragement and heaviness. Remember, praise is active. We must take action topraise God. We need to verbally vocalize our praise to God and that isn't always in the form of a song.In order to see the wall fall at Jericho, the people of God shouted. Sometimes, we may need to praiseHim with dancing to see the victory or better yet, feel the victory of the spirit of heaviness leaving us.No matter how you feel comfortable praising God, let's all agree to step over the line of our personalcomfort zones to see the spirit of heaviness defeated in our lives!......Amen?

1456 Sylvania Avenue1963-1973
Calvary Bible Chapel was founded over 63 years ago. From our beginning in the former Inky's Bar on Detroit
Avenue to our current location, Calvary Bible Chapel hascontinued to reach people in the greater Toledo area..
Our first church was comprised of seventeen people whothrough faith, prayer and obedience to the Lord were blessedand, in 1952, they were able to relocate to a small church at2526 Lawrence Avenue.
The church continued to grow and in December 1964,relocated to 1456 Sylvania Avenue. As God's blessingsmultiplied, it become obvious that larger facilities would beneeded to accommodate the people that God was sendingto them. Another facility located at 3002 Upton Avenue waspurchased by the church in July, 1974. There, a strong Missionsprogram was started, and a number of ministers were ordainedto assist in the work of the ministry.
In 1987, Calvary Chapel took a step of faith and purchasedproperty for our current church here at 3740 West AlexisRoad. On December 24, 1989, our first service was held inour new sanctuary!Today, through the ministry and vision of our SeniorPastors, Tim and Kimberly Marr, we anticipatetremendous growth. If you do not have a home church weinvite you to become part of the Chapel and experiencethe great things that God is doing in Toledo, Ohio. Youth Group News, Events & Activities
Back to the basics. Our youth have returned to this idea ofcommunity. This very important idea of unity and being on thesame pageness, one hearted, and one purposed. It is so
important. We see this at Pentecost. And because of this, the Wayexplodes on the scene and Jesus is preached all over Asia and Europe. If we have any intention of forwarding the Kingdom, we have to havewhat the disciples had, community. Church, as in the physical place wemeet, our church, has to be so healthy and close and together as acommunity of believers in order for us to be helpful to the lost and dyingcommunity around us.
We want to thank everyone for their support at our youth auctiondinner. We raised over $2,60000 for our trip to Guatemala. To date wehave about $7,00000 and need another $4,00000 to meet our goal. Ourkids are really excited about this trip and I know that God is going tomove in a big way in these kids' hearts. We are going down to serve thepoor kids of Guatemala City but God is going to do something in us.And I can't wait to experience that.
Please continue to watch the bulletin for any fundraising we will bedoing or for any events we have going on. Again I want to thank you foryour support of these awesome kids.
