Cuenca is in the centre of Spain, between Madrid and Valencia

CASTILLA-LA MANCHAIt is in Castilla La Mancha

Morteruelo, a kind of pâté made of different kinds of meat.

Alajú is an Arab cake made of honey, almonds, and nuts.

Population and transportsThe popuation of Cuenca is about 50.000 people.Cuenca is in Castilla La Mancha. It is the capital of Cuenca province it is in the middle of Spain its near Valencia

and Madrid.In Cuenca we can travel by ave train (Fernando Zobel station), or by car using the highway A-40, the national

roads 320, 400 and 420. There is a train station too.

The Hanging Houses and the Bridge of San Pablo

The hanging houses are over the river Huécar.The bridge of San Pablo crosses the river Huécar. It was built between 1533 and 1589 and was rebuilt in 1902.

THE CATHEDRAL AND THE PLAZA MAYOR

The cathedral was started in 1196, it looks like Notre Dame (in France). 13th April 1902 the Tower of Bells fell, some people died.It has many visitors, it is very beautiful and very old. It is in the Plaza Mayor which is a part of the old town.The town hall is in the Plaza Mayor too.

SportsIn Cuenca there is a team of handball called ''Balonmano Ciudad Encantada'' It was founded in 1989. Its coach is ''Zupo'' Equisoain.

The Unión Balompédica Conquense is a football club. It was founded in 1946 and they play in the Spanish third division league.

HISTORYWhen the Moors conquered Spain they built Cuenca between the Júcar and Huécar rivers.Alfonso VIII of Castilla conquered the city in 1177 and Cuenca became a manufacturing town and very important in Castilla. In the17th century there was an economic crisis for the town, and the population dropped to four thousand by 1646. Cuenca recovered slowly and today about 57.000 people live in Cuenca. It is the capital of the province too.

STUDENTS IN SANTA ANA

In Santa Ana school there are 401 students and 29 teachers. Students start when they are 3 years old. When they are 6 they start primary and they begin to make science tests. We study art in English too.

We play sports after school in the gym

We use computers in 5th and 6th in Science, Spanish and Maths. We haven’t got books
