SIXTH SENSEDEFINATION
A special ability to feel or see things without using the usual five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, or taste
OR
A power of perception seemingly independent of the five senses, keen intuition

INTRODUCTION
SixthSense is a wearable gestural interface that
augments the physical world around us with
digital information and lets us use natural hand
gestures to interact with that information.
It was developed by PARNAV MISTRY, a PhD
student in the fluid interfaces group at the MIT
media lab.
Sixth sense comprises a pocket projector,a
mirror and acamera.The hardware components
are coupled in a pendant like mobile wearable
device.

CAMERA
Captures an object in view and tracks the
user¶s hand gestures
It sends the data to smart phone
It acts as a digital eye, connecting tou to
the world of digital information

PROJECTOR
The projector projects visual information
enabling surfaces and physical objects to
be used as interfaces The project itself contain a battery
inside, with 3 hours of battery life.

MIRROR
The usage of the mirror is significant as the projector dangles pointing downwards from the neck
MOBILE COMPONENT
A web enabled smart phone in the user¶s pocketprocesses the video data
Other software searches the web and interprets the handgestures.

COLORED MARKERS
It is at the tip of the user¶s fingers.
Marking the users fingers with red, yellow, green, and blue with the help of wepcam recognize
gestures The movements nad arrangments of these
markers are interpreted into gestures that act asinteractions for the projecjted applicationinterfaces.

HOW
IT WORKS????

The hardware that makes Sixth Sense work is apendant like mobile wearable interface.
It has a camera,a mirror and a projector and isconnected wirelessly to a bluetooth smart phonethat can slip comfortable into one¶s pocket.
The camera recognizes
individuals,images,pictures,gestures one makeswith their hands.
Information is sent to the smart phone for processing.
The domnload facing projector projects theoutput image on to the mirror.
Mirror reflects image on to the desired surface.
Thus, digital information is freed from its confinesand places in the physical world

RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
Augmented reality is aterm for a live direct or indirectview of a physical real world environment whoseelements are augmented by virtual computer generatedimagery.
Gestures recognition is a topic in computer sciense andlanguage technology with the goal of interpreting humangestures via mathematical algorithms.
Computer vision is the science and technology of machines that see.It is concerned with the thoery behindartificial systems that extract information from images.
Radio Frequency identification is basically an electronictagging technology that allows the detection, tracking of tags and consequently the objects that they are affixed
to.

APPLICATIONS

CHECK THE TIME
Draw circle image on the wrist to get a virtual watch that gives you the
correct time.
CRE ATING MULTIMEDIARE ADING EXPERIENCES
Sixth sense can be programmed toproject related videos onto news papersarticles you are reading

DRAW APPLIC ATIONS
To draw application , let the user drawon any surface by tracking the finger tipmovements to the users index finger.
GET BOOK INFORMATION
The system can project Amazon ratings
on that book as well as reviews and otherrelevant information.

GET FLIGHT UPD ATES
The system will recognized yourboarding pass and let you knowwhether your flight is on time and if the gate has changed or not.
TAKE PICTURES BY USING YOUR H ANDS
If you fashion your index fingersand thumbs into a square (framing"gesture), the system will snap aphoto.

ZOOMING FACTOR
After taking the desired numberof photos, we can project themonto surface, and use the gesturesto sort through the photos, andorganized and resize them.
The user can zoom out usingintuitive hand movements.
FEED INFORMATION ONPEOPLE
The system will project relevant information about a person such aswhat they do, where they work, andso on.

CONCLUSION
Sixth Sense recognize the objects aroundus, displying information automaically and lettingus to access it in any way we need
The Sixth Sense prototype implements several
applications that demonstrate theusefulness, viability and flexibility of the system.
Allowing us to interact with this information vianatural hand gestures.
The potentioal of beconing the ultimate´Transparent´ user interface for accessinginformation about everything around us.
