The yield gap in crops in India, compared to best in the world, is due to four broad factors
Technology deficit Investment deficit Infrastructure deficit
Managerial deficit
Agriculture holds the Key- But
SVVR Education Society
Need for Professional Management Professionalizing entire chain of agriculture
tremendously increased farmers share of consumer price.
Evidence for the above comes from some success stories - sugar, dairy, poultry and aquaculture.
In these commodities, share of consumer price passed onto farmers is as high as 90% in the case of poultry eggs, 70% in dairy sector; 60% in sugar

According to recent Knowledge Commission Report, there are nearly 1700 general management schools in the country, producing more than 1,00,000 MBAs/ PGDMs every year
As against this, there are less than 25 agribusiness schools in the country producing less than 1,000 graduates per annum
Out of these 25, there are no exclusive agribusiness schools. There are only two institutes offering agribusiness programmes in the Andhra Pradesh – both of them as part of their many other programmes.
SVVR Education Society
Agribusiness Education in India
All that means that there is a
HUGE GAPbetween the demand and supply
of Agri Business Managers
