PressRelease14December2016FollowingtheHarfordCommunityCentreAGMonWednesday7December,atwhichitwasreportedthatNorwichCityCouncilandASDAhadreachedanimpasseoncompletionofthenewCommunityCentreanditwasanticipatedthattheissuewouldberesolvedbyarbitration,thenewcommitteeagreedtoinitiatetheirowncampaigntoensuretheysecuredacommunityfacilitythatreflectedtheneedsofresidentsofHarford,togetherwithcurrentandpotentialfutureusers.ThefocusofthecampaignwastoremindtheASDAManagementTeam,atthehighestlevelandacrosstheglobe,thattheircommitmenttoacommunitycentrewasanintegralpartoftheplanningpermissiongrantedfortheirstore–remindingthem“anEnglishman’swordishisbond”.TheCommitteeispleasedtoannouncethatwithin6daysoflaunchingthecampaignASDAhaveacknowledgedtheircommitmentandagreedtocompletethecommunitycentretotherequiredspecification.WearepleasedwiththisresultandwelcomeASDA’scontributiontoourcommunity,notonlythroughtheprovisionofthecommunitycentre,butasamajoremployerwhichhasapositiveimpactonthelocaleconomy.WelookforwardtoworkingwithASDAinthefuture,onmanyprojectsthatwillbeofcultural,socialandeconomicbenefittoourcommunity.Wewouldalsoliketoexpressourthankstoeveryonewhosupportedourcampaign,notablythosewhosignedourpetitionandourlocalmedia.WewishyouallaMerryChristmasandlookforwardtowelcomingyoutoyournewcentreduring2017.Forfurtherinformationpleasecontact:MicheleNeaveEmail:trustee@harfordcentre.org.ukTrusteeSouthHarford&TuckswoodCommunityAssociation
