Description

TheruggedAB3000isafamilyofcompact,conduction-cooledcomputersforuseindemandingenvironments.Theseversatilesystemsincludemanybuilt-instandardperipherals,avionicsdatabuses,anduserinterfaces,aswellasPMCexpansioncapability.Withtheadditionofapplicationsoftware,theAB3000providesareadilyavailableCommercialOff-The-Shelf(COTS)solutiontochallenginginterface,bridging,control,andaudio/displayproblems.TheAB3000isavailableinover100differentconfigurationstomeetawidevarietyofneeds.

TypicalapplicationsfortheAB3000includedataandprotocolconversion,databusandnetworkbridging,dataservers,datarecorders,communications,powercontrollers,federatedcontrollersandmultiplenet-centricapplications.Inaddition,theAB3000cansupportvoiceandvisualprocessingforcockpitvoiceactions,cannedmessagedelivery,workstationexpansionandmore.TheAB3000issmall,lightweightandloadedwithcapabilitiesforeasyintegrationintotoday’smodernaircraft,UAVs,andgroundmobileplatforms.

AttheheartoftheAB3000isauser-programmableIntelAtomE680Tprocessorwithhyper-threadingandvirtualization.Itfeaturesanintegratedgraphicsmediaaccelerator(GMA)for2D/3Dvideoand2-channelaudio.TheAB3000interfacehardwarecircuitryprovidesahighleveloffunctionalitywhichassuresfulluseoftheprocessorforthesoftwareapplication.

Software

TherearetwowayssoftwarecanoperatetheAB3000:embeddedortethered.EmbeddedprogramsaretypicallydevelopedonahostcomputerandthenuploadedtotheAB3000’snon-volatileFlashmemory.Atpower-ontheembeddedapplicationbootsfromtheFlashmemoryandrunswithouthostintervention.Intetheredoperation,aseparatecomputerrunstheapplicationandcontrolstheAB3000overEthernet.

TheincludedSoftwareDevelopmentKit(SDK)providestoolsandexamplestofacilitatethedevelopmentofsoftwareapplications.TheAB3000usesBallard’suniversalBTIDriverAPI,soapplicationsoftwareforthisdeviceiseasilyportedtoorfromotherBallardproducts.AlthoughtheAB3000canbeconfiguredandrunwithonlyafewAPIcalls,thecomprehensivelibraryincludesabroadrangeoffunctionsforspecializedneeds.OptionalCoPilotsoftwarefacilitatesanalysisandtestforin-flightandotherembeddedapplications.
