English:   Tuesday 28th April 2020WALT: create a poem about Hope.

Over the last few weeks Katherine Rundell has been asking a lot of famous authors and illustrators to get involved with a new FREE poem book. This book was made with the intention of comforting, inspiring and entertaining children in lockdown. There are absolutely loads of poems here to read, so maybe you could read some of them for your reading challenges.  Here is a link to this amazing book: https://literacytrust.org.uk/family-zone/9-12/book-hopes/

Remember the different levels for the task:

Blueberry = an easier version of the taskRaspberry = the normal version of the task Strawberry = a challenging version of the task

Blueberry:

Have a read of this poem: Your task is to do what the poem is asking you to do...Create the pictures! You have to create the pictures for this poem.

Extra challenge: Edit the first poem so it is more relevant to you.

Here is my example: The teacher wanted to find a way to the stars. Her friend just chuckled. In your dreams! They said. But her dog said she could help. They had some pizza. They had some squash. They borrowed her Dad’s ladder.

Now it’s your turn!

Raspberry:   Have a read of this poem:

Activity:

You are now going to have a go at writing your own version of this poem.

Here is my example: Every now and then say something nice.

Say it to a friend.

Say it to a parent. Say it to a neighbour.

Say it to the postman.

Say something nice like:

You remind me of the sunshine.

Or

Your hair smells like pizza.

Now it is your turn to have a go at recreating this poem!

Strawberry:   Have a read of this poem:

Activity:

You are going to create your own poem about an animal. You could try and work the word ‘hope’ into the name of the animal too. I look forward to seeing your poems.
