Overview How likely are you to change jobs in the next 12 months?
How would you say your salary has changed over the last 12 months?
How would you rate your current organisation for work-life balance?
Has the Brexit vote made you more or less likely to look for a new role?
The procurement recruitment market has been nothing short of exciting in 2016, with a
continuous increase in demand for specialist talent on a global scale. Companies from local
firms to global conglomerates have had to up their approach in order to remain competitive
and attract high calibre applicants, particularly within the regions.
The economic climate has of course made an impact on the SME market. Investments have
soured and we have seen a significant rise in organisations looking to implement category
management, supplier relationship management (SRM) and strategic sourcing functions
for the first time across multiple sectors; including Capital Investments, Financial Services,
Insurance, Construction, Energy & Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, Telecommunications, Public
Sector and Consultancy.
Planning for 2017, we are already seeing a dramatic demand for Category Leaders and
Specialists, as well as seasoned Interim Procurement Professionals for high profile turnaround
and implementation projects – a good sign of what is to come over the next 12 months.
I hope this salary survey provides you with a key insight into what our firm and its teams have
experienced across the global talent industry in 2016 and will help shape your thoughts and
talent strategies throughout 2017.
*This guide has been compiled from McGregor Boyall’s own data and by surveying our extensive database of candidates throughout the UK.

Within your current organisation, please indicate how much you value each of the following factors:
When you do decide to move on from your current role, what channels are you most likely to utilise to find your next position?
What do you consider to be the most important factors when considering a job change?
Interestingly, flexible working / work life balance is what employees value most in their current
organisations, while employers only consider this to be the fourth most important factor for
retaining their top talent. When it comes to find a new position recruitment agencies are still
the most popular option for candidates with 87% stating they would utilise an agency to find
their next position, with LinkedIn coming in second with 84%. Interestingly 70% stated they
would utilise their industry / personal network up from 35% in 2016 and pushing online job
boards into fourth place with 46% of the vote.
