And I thought…

Why may a writer need a Productivity Network?

And then…

Alon said he may want to learn a writer’s perspective on productivity…

And that made me smile, because…

How could I tell Alon that LUCK was not a subject educated people talked about, in public …

To compensate for the flaw, I thought, let me offer a story, instead...

Thus, once upon a time…

…not too long ago, I too was a sane character and worked 9 to 6 everyday, 5 days a week…

Then…

I worked on some ambitious projects in India that aimed to change things @ grassroots level forever…

And…

We were backed by technology & tech-giants & we worked very hard…

Yet…

Our efforts largely flopped & many of us were then jobless…

In the meantime…

A different set of people eradicated Polio out of India…

Now the big irony…

India is known for its IT expertise & also seen as an attractive financial market…

And yet…

Our IT enabled Financial Inclusion & eGovernance projects failed…

While…

Healthcare, a sector crumbled, constrained & criticized, achieved the unimaginable…

I wondered how & then, I recalled…

Our daughter was born when India was fighting its war against Polio…

And…

I saw they came door-to-door checking if every kid under 5 got their 2-drops…

They still continue to come, though…

We couldn’t do such things in our projects and even if we did, couldn’t do for as long…

Of course…

The rationalists will provide 20,000 reasons & excuses. They will write thick reports…

Yet…

The truth stands that Polio fighters served through a Productivity Network…

While…

Clear Objective

Clear Communication

Clear Execution

Our efforts were multi-directional…

Let’s talk a few more real-life examples…

In 2010 our country drew criticism on the way we handled our readiness for the 19th Commonwealth Games…

Then…

Only a few months later, same city gets all praises for a phenomenal Formula One success…

Similarly…

Indian entrepreneurs often complain that they can’t build World Class companies in India…

Yet…

Mumbai Dabbawalas achieve six-sigma everyday delivering 200K lunch boxes…

So, what are we getting to…

The point is: without a Productivity Network few things can be a success in this world…

Then how come writer’s are an exception…

Clear Execution

Well writers won’t be alone; musicians, painters, sculptors, etc. may also be the same…

To some extent scientists as well, because…

There is science of things & there is art of things. One is iteration; the other is intuition…

So, don’t writer’s iterate …
