Progress TestsInstructionsThe Progress Tests (p200-p223) are designed to be used afterstudents have completed each unit of the Student's Book. Each Progress Test checks students' knowledge of the keylanguage areas taught in the unit. The final exercise of each

Progress Test also tests students'knowledge oflanguagetaught in previous units. It is helpful for students to havedone the Review section at the end of each unit before doinga Progress Test. You can also encourage students to revise forthe test by reviewing the relevant Language Summary in theback of the Student's Book and by doing exercises for thatunit on the CD-ROM and in the Workbook. Note thatProgress Tests 6 and 12 also contain a listening section.

r Allow students 40 minutes for Progress Tests l-5 and7-ll, and 50 minutes for Progress Tests 6 and 12. You

may wish to adjust this time depending on your class.

. Photocopy one copy of the test for each student. Studentsshould do the tests on their own. You can either check theanswers with the whole class at the end of the test orcollect in the tess and correct them yourself. Keep arecord of the test scores to help you monitor individualstudent's progress and for report writing at the end ofthe course.

o Progress Tests can also be given as homework for generalrevision.

Listening testsThere is a listening section in Progress Tests 6 and 12 onl;z

The corresponding recording scripts (R6.9 and R12.8) are inthe Answer Key for the tests. Both R6.9 and R12.8 have twoseparate sections. Focus on one section of the recording at atime. Allow students time to read through the questions forthat section in the Progress Test before you start. Play thatsection of the recording without stopping and allow studentsto answer the questions. Then play that section of therecording again without stopping. Repeat this procedure forthe other section.
