In a nutshell

History • Plant improvement scheme - Beaumont Mother block

monitored for over 15 years, providing data which ensures planting material of the highest possible yield potential.

• Leading role in original SAMAC Nursery protocols.

• Great contribution to the evolution of the Macadamia industry in South Africa due to our years of experience and horticultural knowledge.

• All relevant clonal material is sourced from our Mother Block trees - giving us 100 % control over the propagation process.

• Misting propagation facility totals our capacity of Vegetatively propagated clonal rooted cuttings (VPs) at 400,000.

• Largest clonal rooting facility allowing us to produce more trees faster.

Nursery Protocols

An example of a protocol

Chlorinator Protocol• Water in the nursery should

be chlorinated to municipal water standards

• The chlorine levels should be checked weekly for sufficient supply levels

STOP ALL WORK AT 4:45 TO PICK UP RUBBISH, CLEAN WORKING STATIONS & TO RETURN ALL EQUIPMENT

• Total mature plant space capacity is close to 400,000.

• With different propagation techniques we supply a mix of clonal root-stocks and seedling root-stocks which are grafted.

Clonal root-stocks

VP Clonal rooted cuttings give more even-growth in the orchard with a known genetic.

Clonal propagation technique in the cup encourages strong, downward-facing root development.

Seedling root-stocks

Seedlings undergo a strict selection process to ensure 50% of the strongest root systems only. Seedlings are never rolled over to next year’s grafting.

Seedling roots are pruned therefore clonals & seedlings end up with the same fibrous root system

Micro-plant Transportation

• Each box weighs 13KG.

• 20,000 micro-plants transported with by bakkie & trailer.

• Transport options:

• Airfreight
