INTRODUCTIONDePaul’sUniversityMinistry(UMIN)ischargedwiththepastoralcareandsupportoftheDePaulcommunityandfosteringthereligious,faithandspirituallifeandVincentianserviceamongDePaulstudents,facultyandstaffaspartofDePaul’sCatholic,Vincentianandurbanmission.DePaul’smissionchallengesandcallsustoworktowardaninclusiveandconversationalrelationshipwiththediversepeople,faiths,religiousandspiritualtraditionsfoundwithinthecommunity.UniversityMinistryholdstothelegacyofSt.VincentDePaulandSt.LouisedeMarillacandhonorsthislegacybyassuringthatstudentreligious,faithorspiritualcommunities,groups,programs,ministries,organizationsorindividualsalreadyoperatingoncampusorhopingtoorganizeoncampus—theiractivities,worship,serviceandoutreach—arecongruentwiththeVincentiantraditionofbeing; �Rootedinfaithandprayer. �Openingandwelcomingcommunitieswhichconnectfaithtoeverydaylifeand peopleofallwalksoflife. �Dedicatedtotheserviceofothers,especiallytopeoplewhoarepooror marginalized. �Basedonpersonalismthatcallsforabeliefandpracticeinthesacreddignityofall people.Withthisinmind,UniversityMinistryseeksto:

�Sustainamutuallysupportiveandcooperativeinter-faithandecumenicalculture atDePaulUniversity. �SupportandsustaintheVincentianmodelforserviceandreflection.OVERSIGHTBYUMINUniversityMinistrystaffmaintainsoversightforcampusreligious,faith,spiritualandVincentianserviceactivitythroughthreeoffices:

�CatholicCampusMinistry(CCM)�TheOfficeofReligiousDiversity(ORD)�TheVincentianCommunityServiceOffice(VCSO).

Oversightandsupportforcampusreligious,faith,spiritualandDCSAVincentianserviceactivityareprovidedbyUMINstaffinordertoensurethatthebestinterestsandneedsofstudentsareservedandthebestinterestoftheUniversityareprotectedandpromoted.TothisendtheUMINProtocolandStandardsdirectandunifyallexistinganddevelopingcampusspiritual,faith,religiousandVincentianserviceactivities.StudentsengagedinanyoftheseactivitiesmustrelatetoUMINinoneoffourways:

1. ThrougharegisteredStudentReligiousOrganization(SRO)withinORDandCCM.StudentsworkwithORDorCCMstaffforinitialapprovalasanSROandthencompletetheOSIregistrationprocess(SeeOrgSync).StudentReligiousOrganizationsaredefinedasacampusreligious,faithorspiritualorganizationwithaprimarygoal,clearlystatedwithinthegroup’sconstitution,ason-goingpromotionofspiritual,religiousand/orfaithdevelopmentamongstudentsoncampus.TheseOrganizationsaresustainable,developedbystudentsthroughCCMorORD,theyareofficiallyregisteredandrecognizedthroughOSIandrelyuponon-goingsupport,guidanceandoversightbyCCMandDCMstaff.

2. ThrougharegisteredDCSA-ServiceOrganization(DCSA-SO)withinVSCO.StudentsworkwithVCSOstaffforinitialapprovalasaDCSA-SOandthencompletetheOSIregistrationprocess(SeeOrgSync).DrawingupontheuniqueVincentianlensthatpromotesworkwiththemarginalizedandinsistsuponpersonalreflection,DCSAServiceOrganizationsspecificallysponsoron-goingandrecurringcommunityserviceopportunitieswithintheChicagoarea.TheseOrganizationsaredevelopedbystudentsthroughVCSO,theyareofficiallyregisteredandrecognizedthroughOSIandrelyuponon-goingsupport,guidanceandoversightbyVCSOstaff.

3. ThroughanestablishedAffiliateGroupwithinUMIN.LeadersintheseGroupsworkdirectlywithUMINstaffPRIORtoengaginginanycampusreligious,faith,spiritualorVincentianserviceactivities,gatherings,eventsormeetingstodeterminetheappropriatenessofestablishinganewAffiliateGrouponcampus.Thisoptionisfor:

�Studentswhowishtoestablishanewentityoncampus.OnceapprovedbyUMINstaffasanAffiliateGroup,leadersmayconsultwithUMINstaffforconsiderationinseekingformalrecognitiononcampusasaStudentReligiousOrganization(SRO),DCSAServiceOrganization(DCSA-SO)oraUMINMinistryProgram.OR�StudentsinvolvedinservicegroupsalreadyestablishedoncampusoutsideofVCSObutseekingformalrecognitionasaregisteredDCSAServiceOrganization.

AffiliateGroupsaredefinedasstudentledsmallgroups(8orfewerstudents)thatarelooselyformed(noconstitution,by-lawsorfoundationaldocuments)andaredeveloped:

�Solelyoutofinterestsandneedsofstudents.

�OnlyinconsultationwithUMINstaffPRIORtotheGroup’sformation.�Withon-goingguidanceandoversightbyUMINstaffaslongastheGroupfunctions.�WiththeunderstandingthattheGroupmayonlyfunctionforalimitedtime(oneacademicyearorless)butwithfurtherunderstandingthattheGroupmay,throughUMINstaffguidanceandoversight,moveintoasustainedSRO,DCSA-SOorUMINMinistryProgram.

4. ThrougharecognizedUMINMinistryProgramwithinoneofthethreeUMIN

offices.StudentsactivelyengagedinUMINministrymayworkdirectlywithUMINstaffindevelopingaministryvisionintoaviableandsustainableProgramwithinUMIN.UMINMinistryProgramsarespecificprogramsthatgrowoutofinterestsofstudentswhoareactivelyengagedinUMINoffices(CatholicCampusMinistry,OfficeofReligiousDiversityandVincentianCommunityServiceOffice).TheseProgramsaredevelopedincloseconsultationwithUMINstaffandaresupportedbyaspecificUMINoffice.

GENERALPROTOCOLANDSTANDARDSAllUMINMinistryPrograms,SROs,DCSA-SOsandAffiliateGroupsfollowspecificprotocolandhighstandards,whicharecriticaltotheestablishmentandon-goingrecognitionofreligious,faith,spiritualandVincentianserviceactivitiesoncampus.UniversityMinistrystaffwillworkcloselywitheachOrganization,ProgramorGrouptoensurethattheseguidelinesarefollowed.(InrareinstancesaGrouporOrganizationwillnolongerbeallowedtofunctiononcampusbecauseitdoesnotadheretotheguidelines,theUniversitymissionandvisionorthepolicies,procedures,protocolandexpectationsdefinedbyOSI,UMINortheUniversity.)Theprotocolandstandardsfollow:

1. Allarestudentinitiatedandled.InkeepingwithDePaul’sOSIpolicies,formationofallUMINOrganizations,GroupsorProgramsaretobeinitiatedbystudents.StudentsinterestedinforminganewOrganization,GrouporProgrammustfirstcontactaUMINstaffpersontodiscusstheirvisionandintentions.

2. AllaredirectedbyDePaul’smission,visionandPoliciesandProcedures.AspartofUMINallspiritual,faith,religiousandVincentianserviceOrganizations,GroupsorProgramsoncampuswillembracetheVincentianmission,functionoutoftheinstitution’svaluesystem,followtheProtocolandStandardssetforthbyDePaulUniversityMinistryandadheretothePoliciesandProceduresproceedingfromtheUniversityandtheOfficeofStudentInvolvement.

3. AllareguidedbytheuniquenatureoftheGroup,OrganizationorProgram.UniversityMinistryatDePaulencouragesstudentstodevelopfaith,spiritualorreligiousOrganizations,GroupsorProgramsthatwillbestmeettheirneeds.However,inanefforttoeliminateduplicationofservicesUMINstaffwillfirstworkwithstudentstodetermineifare/canneedsbemetthroughOrganizations,GroupsorProgramsalreadyestablishedoncampus.Ifthisisthecase,UMINstaffwillencourageandassistinterestedstudentsininvolvementinestablishedOrganizations,ProgramsorGroups.Ifaparticularministry,faith,spiritualorVincentianserviceneedisnotalreadybeingmetoncampusUMINstaffwillguidestudentsinappropriatedirectionsfordevelopingtheiruniquevision.

4. AllareengagedwithUMIN.Membersofreligious,faith,spiritualorVincentianserviceGroups,OrganizationsandProgramsoncampusarepartoftheUMINcommunity.Itistheexpectationthatleaders(andothermembers)ofGroups,ProgramsandOrganizationswillrecognizetheirconnectiontoUniversityMinistrybyengaginginthebroaderUMINcommunityactivitiesandevents.WhilemanyopportunitiesforstudentengagementinthelargerUMINcommunityexist,UMINstudentleadersareexpectedtoparticipatein: �UMINStudentLeaderRetreat(fallquarter)

�ORDQuarterlyInter-religiousCelebrations(QIRC)�VCSOVincentianServiceDay(springquarter)�Additionaltraining,programmingandactivitiesasspecifiedwithineachUMINoffice.

GROUP,ORGANIZATIONANDPROGRAMPRIVILEGESStudentReligiousOrganizationsInadditiontothemanyprivilegesaffordedSROsthroughOSI(SeeOrgSync),SROsmaybeengenderedwiththefollowingprivilegesspecifictoUMIN:

�Activitiesandeventsmaybeco-sponsoredbytheassociatedUMINoffice.�Assistanceinreservingrooms/spacesformeetings,eventsandactivitiesmaybeprovided.�PriorityusageoftheInterfaithSacredSpaceisgiventoSROs(SeeAppendixI).�PriorityusageoftheLouisdeMarillacandOurLadyoftheMiraculousMedalChapelsisgiventoSROs(SeeAppendixI).�ParticipantshaveaccesstocommonUMINspacesformeetingsandcasualgatherings.�ParticipantshavelimiteduseofsomeUMINcomputers.�LeadersmayhaveaccesstoUMINswipecardequipment.�SROswillreceiveannuallimitedfundswhicharedepositedbyOSIintotheOrganization’scheckbook(SeeOrgSync).ThesefundsmaybeusedforanyOrganizationalpurpose.

�Leadersandmembersatlargereceiveanopeninvitationtoon-goingleadershipandpersonaldevelopmentaswellasUMINsponsoredevents,programsandactivitiesthroughouttheyear(SeeUMINWebsite,OrgSyncPage,Facebook).�SROsleadershaveaccesstoallotherUMINMinistryProgram,SROandDCSA-SOleadersandmembersforthepurposeofcollaborativeprogramming.�SROleadershaveaccesstolimiteduseofUMINvans(SeeAppendixII).

SROshaveaccesstoamyriadofotherprivilegesprovidedthroughtheOfficeofStudentInvolvementthatcanbereviewedthroughOrgSync.DCSA-ServiceOrganizationsInadditiontothemanyprivilegesaffordedDCSA-SOsthroughOSI(SeeOrgSync),DCSA-SOsareengenderedwiththefollowingprivilegesspecifictoUMIN:

DCSA-SOshaveaccesstoamyriadofotherprivilegesprovidedthroughtheOfficeofStudentInvolvementthatcanbereviewedthroughOrgSync.AffiliateGroupsOnlyprivilegesaffordedallDePaulstudentspertaintoAffiliateGroups.WhileAffiliateGroupsarelimitedintheirprivilegesoncampus,someprivilegesmaybeofferedbyspecificUMINoffices.(Forinstance,anAffiliateGroupmaybeallowedtousetheInterfaithSacredSpaceformeetings.)LimitationsSpecifictoAffiliateGroups:

�MembersarenotallowedtoactivelyrecruitotherstojointheGroupbypostingflyers/postersorbanners,throughtablingordistributinganywrittenmaterialsregardingtheGroup.Instead,membersjointhroughpersonalinvitationsastheGroupisdevelopedandparticipantsremaininvolvedaslongastheychooseoruntiltheGroupdissolves.�Groupsmaynotpostmeetingsorsponsoreventsoractivitiesoncampus.�Groupsmaynotreserveroomsoncampusandormeetinpublicareaswheregroupsmeetingsarenotpermitted(SuchasResidenceHalllounges).

UMINMinistryProgramsUMINMinistryProgramsmayhavethefollowingprivilegesundertheauspicesoftheUMINofficewithwhichtheyareassociated:

�Activitiesandeventsmaybesponsoredorco-sponsoredbytheUMINoffice.�Recruitmentassistancemaybeprovidedwithrecruitmentthroughtabling,postingmeetingsandsharinginformationthroughflyers,postersortabletents.�Advertisementandpromotionofmaybeprovidedthroughpostingofflyers,postersandbanners(alluponapprovalbyOSI).�Reservingrooms/spacesformeetings,eventsandactivitiesmayoccur.�PriorityusageoftheInterfaithSacredSpaceisgiventoMinistryPrograms(SeeAppendixI).�PriorityusageoftheLouisdeMarillacandOurLadyoftheMiraculousMedalChapelsisgiventoMinistryPrograms(seeAppendixI).�ParticipantshaveaccesstocommonUMINspacesformeetingsandcasualgatherings.�ParticipantshavelimiteduseofsomeUMINcomputers.�Leadershaveaccesstoswipecardequipment.

GROUP,ORGANIZATIONANDPROGRAMSUPPORTFROMUMINStudentReligiousOrganizationsStudentReligiousOrganizationswillreceivesupportfromUMINstaffinthefollowingways.

DCSA-ServiceOrganizationsDCSA-ServiceOrganizationswillreceivesupportfromUMINstaffinthefollowingways:

AffiliateGroupsAffiliateGroupswillreceivesupportfromUMINstaffinseveralways:

�EmergingleaderswillbeguidedinthedevelopmentoftheGroup.�Quarterlysupportandoversightwillbeprovided.Thetypeofsupportandoversightwillbedeterminedonacase-by-casebasisbyGroupleadersandUMINstaff.�IfanAffiliateGroup,inconsultationwithUMINstaffdeterminesthatthepurposeandlifeofthegroupmaybesustainable,functionswithinthepoliciesandproceduresoftheUniversityandupholdstheUniversitymissionandvision,adherestoUMINProtocolandStandards,andisnotduplicatingothercampusspiritual,faith,religiousorVincentianDCSAserviceinitiativesUMINstaffwillworkwithstudentleaderstodetermineiforhowtodevelopthegroupintoanSRO,DCSA-SOorUMINMinistryProgram.�AffiliatedGroupmemberswillbeencouragedtoattendUMINsponsoredactivitiesthatsupportthevisionofthegroupandUMIN.�UMINstaffwillprovidespiritualsupportandguidanceforleadersandparticipants.

�UMINstaffwillregularlycommunicateinformationregardingUniversitynewsandpolicies,OSIpoliciesandnews,UMINProtocolandStandardsandnews,etc.�UMINstaffwillconsultoncontentforandstructureofmeetings/gatherings.�UMINstaffwillassistinsettingandreviewingannualgoalsfortheGroup.

UMINMinistryProgramsUMINMinistryProgramswillreceivesupportfromUMINstaffinthefollowingways:

�OversightforstudentleadersindevelopingandfacilitatingProgramwillbeprovided.�Leadershipdevelopment,orientationandleadershipsupportforstudentleaderswillbeprovided.�Programfundingmaybeoffered.�SupportandadvocacyforProgramactivitiesandeventswillbeprovided.�Annualplanningandevaluationassistancewillbeoffered.�Programpublicityassistancemaybeconferred.(Pleasenote:UseofDePaullogosonanyflyer,letterhead,posters,advertisement,etc.isnotallowed.UseofORD,VCSOorCCMlogosmaybeusedwithpermissionfromUMINstaff.)�Navigationofandadvocacyandassistancewithintheuniversitysystemwillbeoffered.�Annualrecognitionandaffirmationofstudentleadersandseniorswillbegiven.�ConnectionsbetweenProgramleadersandthegreaterUMINcommunitywillbemade.�Spiritualandleadershipsupportandguidanceforleadersandparticipantswillbeprovided.

LEADERSHIPInkeepingwithDePaul’smissionto“expandanddeveloppurposefulco-curricularactivitiestopromoteleadership,civicengagement,culturalawarenessandpersonalandspiritualdevelopment,”primaryleadershipwithincampusspiritual,faith,religiousandVincentianserviceGroups,OrganizationsandProgramsbelongstothestudents.InthespiritofSt.VincentdePaul,theuniversitycommunityworkstogethertochallengestudentstoidentifyandliveconsistentlywiththeirvalues;buildhealthyrelationshipsandtaketheperspectiveofothersintoconsiderationwhenmakingchoices;contributetothecampusandbroadercommunitiesandpromotethecommongood;thinkcriticallyandmakeinformedandethicaldecisions;andstriveforexcellenceinalltheydo.(FormoreinformationonDePaul’sSociallyResponsibleLeadershipFrameworkanditsfivedimensions,visithttp://studentaffairs.depaul.edu/sli/about/framework.asp.)Inkeepingwiththeuniversity’scommitmenttopromotingsociallyresponsibleleadersandinordertoassiststudentleaderstoleadsuccessfully,OSIandUMINprovidenumerousopportunitiesforleadershipdevelopment.ThewaysinwhichstudentleadersareidentifiedandservewillvarywithinthedifferentGroups,ProgramsorOrganizations:

StudentReligiousOrganizationLeadershipStudentLeaders

StudentReligiousOrganizationleaderswillbedeterminedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofOSI(SeeOrgSync).Inaddition,SROsmayberequiredtofilladditionalleadershiprolesbyspecificUMINoffices.SROleaderswillberequiredtoparticipateinandpromoteUMINactivitiesandeventsaswellasleadershipdevelopmentopportunitiesofferedbyUMINandStudentAffairsandbyspecificUMINofficeswithwhichtheleadersareassociated.ThefollowingareUMINactivitiesandeventsinwhichSROstudentleadersarerequiredtoparticipate:

�UMINStudentLeaderRetreat(fallquarter)�ORDQuarterlyInter-religiousCelebrations(QIRC)�VCSOVincentianServiceDay(springquarter)�Additionaltraining,programmingandactivitiesasspecifiedwithineachUMINoffice(ConsultwithCCMorORDstaff).

ExternalLeaders

Inafewinstancesexternalleadersfromlocalfaithorworshippingcommunities,groups,para-churchorganizationsornational/internationalprogramsmaybeinvitedbystudentsandapprovedbyUMINstafftoworkwithacampusspiritual,faith,religiousGroups,ProgramsorSROs.Regularandon-going(atleastonceaquarter)externalleadershipwithinacampusspiritual,faith,religiousOrganization,ProgramorGroupislimitedtoadvisingandconsulting.Studentsalwaysmaintainprimaryleadershiprolesindeterminingthedirection,focusandimplementationofactivitiesandeventsoftheirGroup,OrganizationorProgram.ApprovedexternalleadersarereferredtoasCommunityMinistryAssociates(paidbyexternalentitiestosupportDePaulstudents)orCommunityMinistryVolunteers(non-paidvolunteers).CommunityMinistryAssociates(CMAs)andCommunityMinistryVolunteers(CMVs)mustbevettedbyUMINstaffpriortoanycontactwithstudentsoncampus.Thevettingprocessincludesbutmaynotbelimitedto:

�aformal(annual)meetingbetweentheCMA/CMVandUMINstaff.�reviewofanannualregistrationformthatincludesaFelonyCertificationasrequiredbytheUniversityOfficeofGeneralCounsel.

UponUMINapprovalCMAsadCMVsmustadheretospecificDePaulUniversitypoliciesandproceduresandUMINProtocolandStandardsforExternalLeadership(SeeAppendixIII).

3. TheGroup,ProgramorOrganizationwillbeplacedonprobation,tolastnomore

4. Ifthelearningoutcomesarenotmetwithintwoacademicquarters,theGroup,

ProgramorOrganizationwillbesuspendedindefinitely.AnyOrganizationthathasitsSROorDCSA-SOstatussuspendedforaminorinfractionandhavingsuccessfullymetlearningoutcomesmayreapplyforSROorDCSA-SOrecognitionafterthreeacademicquartersandwithreorganizationofleadership.RegainingSROorDCSA-SOrecognitionwillhappenonlyuponapprovalbyUMINstaffinconsultationwithappropriateuniversityoffices.Furtherminorinfractionduringprobationorsubsequenttotheinitialinfractionmayresultinstrongerconsequences,uptoandincludingindefinitesuspensionoftheSROorDCSA-SOordissolutionoftheSROorDCSA-SO.AnyGroupthathasbeensuspendedforaminorinfractionwillnotbeallowedtocontinuefunctioningoncampus.AnyProgramthathasbeensuspendedforaminorinfractionmayresumeupontheapprovalofscrutinyofUMINstaff.MajorInfractionMajorinfractionsmayincludebutarenotlimitedto: �Repeatedoffensesregardingproselytization,degradationorexclusionary practices. �Neglectinsuccessfullymeetinglearningoutcomesdevelopedtoresolve minorinfractions. �Non-compliantactivitiesasdeterminedbystafffromOSIandUMINin consultationwiththeDeanofStudentsandotherofficesasnecessary. ThefollowingareexamplesofconversionarytacticsknownasproselytizingwhicharenotallowedatDePaul:“Yourchurch/communityhasproblems.Itisbeingsurroundedbyevilbecauseitissinful.”Inextremecasestheonetryingtoconvertmightevenridiculeandscoffattheother’sbeliefsandcommunity.Theseareunkind,disrespectfulandmostoftendishonestcommentaryabouttheotherperson’sbeliefsandpractices.“MYchurchisgrowingandpeopleareonfire.Youcanbepartofthatinsteadofstrugglingwithachurchthatissosinfulandlackingingoodleadership.”Oftentheonetryingtoconvertwillfindoutwhere/iftheotherisengagedinaspiritualpracticeorcommunityalready.Ifso,theproselytizerwillcomparethetwocommunitieseveniftheyhavenoideawhattheothercommunitymightlooklikeortrulybelieve.Iftheydoknowthecommunityorfaith,theywillspeakaboutallofitsflaws.“Ifyoujoinusyouwillfindjoyandbepartofacommunitythatwillalwaysbethereforyou.Ifyoudon’tyouwillalwaysbesearchingandyouwillbecondemned.You’llneverfindpeace.You’llneversucceed.Allyourproblemsaretheresultofyourbadpath.”Thisisemotionalviolenceandpsychologicalabuse.Thistypeofmoralexploitationcanbeveryconvincingbutextremelyharmful.“Bysharingyourstudentloanmoneyyouwillfindhopeandsalvation.Givingisasignofyourcommitmenttoanewlife.Youwillberewarded.”Therequestformoneyorsocialconnectionsdoesn’tusuallycomeupimmediatelybutinsistenceonsharingwealthandresourcesevenlaterinarelationshipisalwaysanindicatorofmanipulation.

“Inthiscommunityyouwillbesurroundedbylike-mindedpeople.Wewillfindyouaroommatewhowillpracticeasyoudoandyouwillneverbealone.Weevenhavemanywhoarehopingtofindapartnerforlife.”Oneofthegoalswithextremegroupsistoenmeshthecommunitysothatthesenseofbelongingandcommitmenttothecommunitywillnotbeshaken.Thesetacticsusuallycomelaterintheconversionprocessbutshouldalwaysstrikeconcern.“Itmustbereallydifficultbeing…(Asian/Black/Hispanic/Poor/Lonely/YOUNAMEIT!)Youdon’tneedtofeelalone.I’mhereforyouandIhaveacommunitythatwillloveyouandcareforyou.”Proselytizingisoftenaimedatthosewhoareperceivedtobeonthefringes.Studentwithasaddemeanor,sittingaloneinBrownstones,studyingaloneinthelibrary,eatingalone,appearingtobelostoncampusareexamplesofprimetargets.Oftenforeignstudentsandthosewhoexhibitmarginalizationaretargeted.Peopleindistressareoftengoodtargetsalso.“Hi!Wouldyouliketograbacupofcoffeeandgettoknoweachother?”Thisisproblematicifthepersoninvitingtheotherhasahiddenagendasuchassharingtheirfaithorrecruitingforafaith,spiritualorreligiousgrouponoroffcampus.However,iftheagendaisclearlyindicatedintheinvitationtheotherpersonhastheopportunitytodeclineoraccepttheinvitationANDtheagenda.TRANSPARENCYiskey!Transparencyinpersonalverbalinvitationsaswellasthroughanymediaiscritical.Forinstance,amediapiecethatinvitespeopleto“joinareallyfungroup”thatisspiritual,faithorreligiousbutdoesnotindicatethatclearlyisinappropriate.Howtorespondtoproselytizationoncampus(oranywhere!)ProselytizingandconversionaryactivitiesareindirectconflictwithDePaul’smissionofrespectingthedignityoftheotherandembracingpluralism.AnyonewhofeelspersonallyaffrontedbyconversionarypracticesorwhowitnessesthesameamongpeersshouldreporttheactivityimmediatelytoDePaulPublicSafetyandaskthemtoreportthisinformationtoUMIN.Whileproselytizingisoftendoneinpublicspacessuchaslounges,eatingareas,reshalls,elevators,etc.manyproselytizingactivitiesoftentakeplaceinsituationsthataremoreprivate(likereshallrooms).Exerciseextremecautionandseekassistanceifexperiencingaffrontsinanyareaandatanytime.ContactPublicSafety.WhencontactingPublicSafetyand/orUMINandpleaseprovidetheseprofessionalswithasmanydetailsaspossible:time,place,senseofthreat,nameofpersonmakingthecontact,andanyotherinformationthatyouthinkmightbeusefultoshare.Inallcasesofproselytization,thebestdefenseisNOdefense.TheproselytizerWANTSyoutoengageandwantsyoutogetemotional.TheyarelookingforYOURweaknesses.Thebestresponseanytimeyouencounteranyonewhoisusinganyofthesetacticsisto1.Getthenameoftheorganizationtowhichtheybelong,2.Getthenameoftheproselytizer,
