Joyful Living in Difficult TimesThe Secret of Humble Service

Philippians 2

MY JOY INCREASES WITH HUMBLE SERVICE BECAUSE:

IT IS AN ANTIDOTE TO SELFISHNESS AND DISUNITY V. 1-4

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit,

but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for

the interests of others.” Phil 2:3,4

MY JOY INCREASES WITH HUMBLE SERVICE BECAUSE:

I BECOME MOST LIKE JESUS V. 5-11

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no

reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a

man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Phil. 2:5-8

MY JOY INCREASES WITH HUMBLE SERVICE BECAUSE:

I CAN SERVE THE WAY GOD MADE ME.

V. 12-30 “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for

His good pleasure.” Phil. 2:13

MY JOY INCREASES WITH HUMBLE SERVICE BECAUSE:

I CAN SERVE THE WAY GOD MADE ME.

V. 12-30

PAUL – THE BOLD SACRIFICER“Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and

service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all” v. 17

TIMOTHY – THE QUIET SYMPATHIZER “For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. For all

seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus” v. 20, 21

EPAPHRODITUS – THE LOVING GAMBLER “Because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life,

to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.” V. 30

“The measure of a man is not how many servants he has,

but how many men he serves."

D. L. Moody
