• Three main Gods –Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva

• Worship in temples

• Holy book is the Bhagvad Gita

Hinduism

Islam• Monotheistic and Abrahamic• Quran (their holy book)

• Muhammad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God.

• A follower of Islam is called a Muslim.

CHRISTIANITY•Followers of Jesus Christ are called Christians

•The Bible believed to be the Word of God

•Christians worship together in Churches and celebrate the major events of Christ’s life throughout the year

SIKHISM•Founded by Guru Nanak

•Holy book is the Guru Granth Sahib

•Sikhs pray in a gurudwara

•They have 10 gurus

BUDDHISM

• Founded by Siddharth Gautam Buddha

• Buddhists believe in non violence

• They pray in Buddhist monasteries

• Their holy book is the Tipitaka

JAINISM• Jainism  prescribes   non violence • They worship Lord Mahavira• Temples are called

derasar• There are 2 sects-

Digambar and Shwetambar

ZOROASTRIANISM

• Followers of Zoroaster

• Holy book is the Avesta

• Pray in an Atashbaram and

Agiary (fire temple )

Judaism

• Jews are descendants of the Hebrews

• Their holy book is the Torah

• They pray in synagogues
