THERE IS/ THERE ARE

● La traducción es español es “hay”● “there is” se utiliza para el singular● “there are” se utiliza para el plural

– There is a book on the table– There are two books on the table

A / AN● La traducción es “un, uno, una”

● Se usa con sustantivos contables en singular

● “a” si la siguiente palabra empieza por consonante

– A book; a computer; a house; a university● “an” si la siguiente palabra empieza por vocal

– An apple; an orange; an hour; an ugly building

SOME/ ANY● “some” se usa en frases afirmativas con

sustantivos incontable o con sustantivos contables en plural

● Se traduce por “algunos, varios”– There is some milk in the fridge– I have some money– There are some books on the table– We have some photographs

SOME/ ANY

● “any” se usa en frases negativas y en preguntas. Se usa con sustantivos incontables y con contables en plural– There isn't any milk in the fridge– Do you have any money?– There aren't any books on the table– Are there any books on the table?

MUCH/ MANY● “much” se usa con sustantivos incontables y se traduce

como “mucho”

– There is much milk in the fridge

– There isn't much cheese

● “many” se usa con sustantivos contables en plural y se traduce por “muchos”

– There are many tomatoes in the fridge

– There aren't many books on the table

HOW MUCH/ HOW MANY

● Estas expresiones se usan para preguntar por la cantidad

● “how much” se usa con sustantivos incontables y significa “¿cuánto?– How much milk is there in the fridge?

● “how many” se usa con sustantivos contables en plural y significa “¿cuántos?” – How many tomatoes are there in the fridge?

A lot of

● Se puede usar tanto con sustantivos contables como incontables y significa “mucho”. Su uso es más frecuente en frases afirmativas– I have a lot of homework– There is a lot of milk in the fridge– There are a lot of tomatoes in the fridge
