Air Ministry Orders state, in regard toR.A.F. flying risks, that the compensationpayable from public funds in the event ofinjury or death, and provided for in regula-tions, cannot take into account exceptionalpersonal liabilities which may exist inindividual cases.
" Officers and airmen are therefore advisedto consider whether their individual circum-stances render it desirable that they shouldeffect private insurance to supplement thecompensation which might become payablefrom official sources, or to cover contingenciesin which no official compensation is payable,"it is stated.
" Officers and airmen who contemplate par-ticipating in their private capacities in civilair displays or meetings are specially advisedto consider the question of insurance, sincedisability or death arising from such partici-pation will in no circumstances be regarded asattributable to conditions of service, and theAir Ministry can accept no liability in respectof them."
