Tajiks normally sit on thin mattresses (korpacha) on the floor around a large tablecloth laden with food (dastarkhan).

Tajik tradition dictates that a visitor is a guest for three days, after which they become a member of the family, with their own share of household chores!

During FOODTajikistan food presents a wonderful blend of exquisite dishes with lovely fruits and vegetables, especially in the summer.

It is our tradition not to make noise during mealtime asking questions and talking so much.

When the whole family is gathering at the table the oldest member of the family begins reception of the food and then the others.

After the reception of the food the oldest member of the family says the praying “Omin” and only then the family members can leave the tableMost of Tajik people eat with fingers.They usually eat the (non) bread
