COMMON COMPONENTS OF GRANT PROPOSALS

Organization History—significant milestones only

Program Description—how are you going to solve

problem—specifics

Goals/Objectives/Outputs/Outcomes

Sustainability

STATEMENT OF NEED

What is the problem

you’re trying to solve?

Why is it important?

What does the

problem look like in

the communities

you serve?

STATEMENT OF NEED—BEFORE

Hunger is a terrible problem.

Millions of Americans are hungry

everyday. We help feed the

hungry by providing boxes of food

every week to 150 families.

Without this assistance, they and

their families would suffer.

Therefore, we need to help them.

STATEMENT OF NEED--AFTER

In Henry County, Georgia, more than

30,000 residents are not sure where their

next meal is coming from, according to

Feeding America. The most recent U.S.

census data shows that more than 10% of

all Henry county residents are living below

the poverty level. In Anywhereville, the

community we serve, the nearest large scale

grocery store is more than 15 miles away.

SUSTAINABILITY

How will program

continue after

grant money is

spent?

Specific plans, not

generalities

Who will help

make this happen?

SUSTAINABILITY—BEFORE

We are committed to sustain

operations of the Kudzu Food

Pantry. The Community

Church continues to support

us. We will ask for donations

from the community to

continue this important

work.

SUSTAINABILITY—AFTER

The Community Church will

continue to provide in-kind storage,

office space and utilities for the next

five years. Our two annual letter

and email campaign should bring in

$5,000-$7,000. We will begin our

Board member giving campaign. We

will write grants to family

foundations and ask local businesses

for in-kind and cash donations.
