Ray Bradbury wrote “The Illustrated Man” in 1951 which is about his exploration of the nature of mankind and the battle between

technology and human psychology.

After joining WWII America dropped the first atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on

August 6, 1945. This relates to his book “There Will Come Soft Rains” which is about a nuclear

war that destroys humanity.

You might have heard of the Vietnam war but did you know that after years of battle the US

pulled out of the war in 1973.

Because Cuba wanted to revolt, led by Fidel Castro, they did and threw dictator Fulgencio

Batista out. This led to the US invading the Bay of Pigs in 1961.

Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451, which was about a “fireman” who, with a team, burns

books in a dystopian United States. This relates to The Cold War and his deep commitment to

libraries.

Ray Bradbury wrote ‘Here There be Tygers’ which has to do with a space mission sent out to a foreign planet to see if it is apt for human

life. This story relates to the space race with the US launching space ships on deep explorations.

You should know that during Ray Bradbury’s life, which lasted from 1920 to 2012, the twin towers were crashed into by Al Qaeda in New

York City in 2001.
