Suggested Goals:

Kinder and 1st Grade - 200 minutes

2nd and 3rd Grade - 250 minutes

4th, 5th and 6th Grades - 300 minutes

There are Class Prizes as well as prizes for pledges based on $10,

$20 and $35 or more!

Read, Read, Read!

If you do, lunch time

will be AWESOME!You’ll find out why SOON!

Reading before and after school DOES counts. Reading before the official beginning (February 22nd) of the

READ-A-THON does NOT count. Reading after the official ending (March 3rd) does NOT

count. Reading during class time does NOT count. Being read to by other people DOES count (outside of

school, of course). Reading aloud to the dog, the cat, the goldfish, or any

other pet DOES count. Reading aloud to other people DOES count. If you read to

someone who is also participating in the READ-ATHON, it counts for both of you!

Reading under the bed covers, with a flashlight, late at night counts DOES count (but only if it is okay with your parents).

Reading to residents of a nursing home (at a nursing home) counts DOUBLE!

Reading instead of watching TV or playing video games DOES count.

Reading assigned homework DOES count. Reading anything, in any language (even cereal boxes),

DOES count.

Only count the minutes you read OUTSIDE of school!
