• Minilesson: 10-12 minutes

• Independent Reading: 15-20 minutes

• Mid-workshop Interruption: 3-5 minutes

• Partner Reading or Book Clubs: 15-20 minutes

• Teaching Share: 5 minutes

• Connect today’s lesson with yesterday’s lesson• Connect today’s lesson with ongoing unit of study• Connect today’s lesson with students’ work• Connect today’s lesson with an experience outside of school

2. Teaching Point: • Present verbally• Demonstrate or model• The teaching point should be mentioned throughout the mini-lesson 5-6 times.

3. Active Engagement:• Children try out a skill or strategy with a text• Children act like researchers as they watch a demonstration• Children Imagine trying a skill or strategy
