Our Learning Objectives:
1. Design an effective recall and reminder system.2. Use actions for preventive health activities.3. Add, view and modify patient recalls and reminders. 4. Generate patient recall and reminder lists.5. Develop an understanding of systematic preventive
health management/screening.6. Implement systems for Immunisation & Cancer
Screening recalls and reminders.
Practices need:
• Clear system
• Goals/Plan
• Defined roles
• Communication
• Training
1. Design an effective recall and reminder system
This is what can happen without a ‘system’:
For ‘reminders’ that are only for the clinician, consider:
‘ACTIONS’ eg. Discuss screening, discuss smoking
What are ‘Actions, Reminders & Recalls’?
RECALLS (ie clinically significant/medico-legal) eg previous melanoma, inconclusive
REMINDERS eg. immunisation, skin check,
routine Cervical Screening Test (CST)
Save time, money & minimize risk
With a list like this how do you identify true recalls ie. Clinically significant ie probability of harm & we must follow-up/medico-legal/must keep the doctor informed & document every single contact attempt?
New! Clinically Significant Tickbox
New
Label so patients
don’t stress if they
receive a sms or
letter with the
reason.
New! - Reminder Types
Tips for Success:
▪ Define your system
▪ Control your list
(Configuration >
Reminders)
Time for a clean up?
Setup > Configuration > Reminders > Clean Up
A reminder for the clinician
when the patient next
presents eg discuss
smoking, check BSL etc
If follow-up is required use
‘Reminder’ button instead.
2. Use Actions for preventive health activities
Outstanding action prompts appear on opening the patient record and can be tracked from the main screen (Clinical > Actions).
Actions
Add from: - Patient record - Inbox- Review button- Immunisations
3. Add, view and modify patient recalls & reminders
New! Reminder comments
View Reminders & Comments
4. Generate Recall & Reminder Lists
Generate Recall & Reminder Lists
Access ‘Clinically Significant’ Reminders
1. Prior to ‘Send Reminder’
2. After ‘Send Reminder’
When patient returns: remove reminder
View detail of ‘sent’ Reminders
Follow up outstanding reminders
Use ‘Send Again’ button to generate additional letters
Use ‘Mark’ to flag the reminder as performed.
