The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, May 29, 2016
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Today we celebrate the solemn feast of Corpus Christi. It is a doctrinal feast established for three purposes: 1) to give God collective thanks for Christ’s abiding presence with us in the Eucharist and to honor him there; 2) to instruct the people in the mystery, faith and devotion surrounding the Eucharist, and 3) to teach us to appre-ciate and make use of the great gift of the Holy Eucharist, both as a sacrament and as a sacrifice. Theologi-cally, today’s readings are a prefiguring of Jesus’ gift of the Eucharistic Bread that spiritually nourishes all those who believe in him and serve him. May the Lord bless each and every one of you with love, peace, and joy for your faithful dedication to the service of our brothers and sisters in the Church and School. This past week we just marked our three blissful and remarkable events: the School Spring Show, Spiritual Evening on Mercy with Dr. Juliana, and Thanksgiving Mass & Appreciation Luncheon with all Church volun-teers. These have truly enhanced and renewed our spirit of the Lord’ servants to one another. May God bless all of us with many blessed, joyful and meaningful years of services. Fr. Bao

MISERICORDIAE VULTUS - BULL OF INDICTION OF EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
by POPE FRANCIS, BISHOP OF ROME www.rcbo.org/year-of-mercy/ or www.im.va/content/gdm/en.html
Continuation from last week…
7. “For his mercy endures forever.” This is the refrain that repeats after each verse in Psalm 136 as it narrates the history of God’s revelation. By virtue of mercy, all the events of the Old Testament are replete with pro-found salvific import. Mercy renders God’s history with Israel a history of salvation. To repeat continually “for his mercy endures forever,” as the psalm does, seems to break through the dimensions of space and time, inserting everything into the eternal mystery of love. It is as if to say that not only in history, but for all eternity man will always be under the merciful gaze of the Father. It is no accident that the people of Israel wanted to include this psalm – the “Great Hallel,” as it is called – in its most important liturgical feast days. Before his Passion, Jesus prayed with this psalm of mercy. Matthew attests to this in his Gospel when he says that, “when they had sung a hymn” (26:30), Jesus and his disciples went out to the Mount of Olives. While he was instituting the Eucharist as an everlasting memorial of himself and his paschal sacrifice, he symbolically placed this supreme act of revelation in the light of his mercy. Within the very same context of mercy, Jesus entered upon his passion and death, conscious of the great mystery of love that he would consummate on the Cross. Knowing that Jesus himself prayed this psalm makes it even more important for us as Christians, chal-lenging us to take up the refrain in our daily lives by praying these words of praise: “for his mercy endures for-ever.” 8. With our eyes fixed on Jesus and his merciful gaze, we experience the love of the Most Holy Trinity. The mission Jesus received from the Father was that of revealing the mystery of divine love in its fullness. “God is love” (1 Jn 4:8,16), John affirms for the first and only time in all of Holy Scripture. This love has now been made visible and tangible in Jesus’ entire life. His person is nothing but love, a love given gratuitously.

2016 2015 Pledged $51,558 $216,775 Paid $42,294 $204,313 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, You are asked to prayerfully discern the amount of your 2016 PSA gift. Your sacrificial gift in any amount will be acknowledged as your commitment to our faith and your response to God’s many blessings. Once we have met our goal, 100% of all PSA donations over our Diocesan goal will be returned to St. Ce-cilia Church in a monthly rebate. As you have seen, the modular buildings were removed after Easter, following a discussion with the City of Tustin, and in anticipation of the Parish Center. Our rebate will be designated to the Restricted Building Fund for an Overall Campus Master Plan and for Facility Maintenance. In addition to remodeling the existing church bathrooms, kitchen and hall, our Master Plan seeks to construct a brand new structure: a Parish Center with nicer administrative offices and meeting rooms. Together with Fr. Agustin and Fr. Wayne, I am grateful to you for your devoted support of immeasurable gen-erosity, constant prayer and Christ-like love for our St. Cecilia community. With the intercessions of Our Blessed Mother Mary and Patroness St. Cecilia, may Our Merciful God reward and bless you and your family abundantly through Jesus the Risen Lord and Savor!
