STEP 3: MONITORING

• Swim along the 25m transect allocated to your team and count fish Remember to count only on 2m belt Timing is crucial and needs to be 10min. Record start

and end time in hr-min-sec format

• Check your data sheet to make sure all is complete

• Swim back along the transect line and count long spiny sea urchins (no need to keep time)

STEP 5: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

• Meeting at the Palapa to add all information into one data sheet for the site

• If possible, input data into computer database • Comment on monitoring, outcomes and experiences

STEP 4: RETRIEVAL

• Wait and make sure researcher has completed your transect, before you attempt retrieval

• Only retrieve materials if you feel comfortable• Carry materials back to the boat• Check all and everyone is onboard• Return home
