EXPANSION OF
MQHM COMMUNITY
God’s initiative… The work of God and our growing mission is seen
in the establishment of local houses in other
dioceses in the Philippines. He sent instruments
as potential link to the central figures in the
Diocese of Libmanan in Camarines Sur in the Bicol
Region the Bishop of Libmanan, His Excellency,
Most Reverend Jose R. Rojas Jr. D.D., sent an
invitation to establish in his diocese to help
address the problem of prostitution and the rural
poor.

His Excellency, Most Reverend Angel
Lagdameo, Archbishop of Jaro, Ilo-ilo warmly
welcomed the establishment of our local house in
Ilo-ilo City, giving us access to the rural poor in
the Panay region.
In the same manner, the establishment of a
local community in the Diocese of Calbayog was
gladly accepted by His Excellency, Most Reverend
Isabelo Abarquez, Bishop of Calbayog in Western
Samar. This opens the channel for MQHM to
reach out to the poor in the whole region. It is a
great blessing to be God’s helping hand to the
poor especially in the rural areas and mountain
ranges.

“Here I am Lord; I come to do your will”
We are grateful for the gift of vocation and
perseverance of seven postulants who were
admitted to the novitiate last January 31, 2014 in
Tumalog, Oslob, Cebu. They feel the zeal to serve
GOD in the mission for the poor especially the
children and women victims of prostitution. May
God continue to bless them with humble and
obedient heart and holy charity.
MQHM MISSION REGIONS IN THE PANAY
ISLAND IN REGION VI
The Diocese of Ilo-ilo generously supports
the newly established MQHM Community in
Arevalo, Ilo-ilo City under the Sto. Nino de Arevalo
Parish, with the blessing of Archbishop Angel
Lagdameo. The parish priest Msgr. Amadeo Escanan
guides and supports the sisters.
Generous people in our community became
the channels of God’s providence for the sister’s
sustenance and apostolate.
The mayors of Ilo-ilo City and Sta. Barbara
gave permission to the sisters to visit night
establishment to reach out children and women
victims of prostitution to offer them a decent way
of living.
The mayors of selected fifteen rural
municipalities in the Panay Island also welcomed
our educational assistance program for the poor.
The sisters have started the survey for possible
beneficiaries in Oton and Tigbauan this January. The
parish priest assisted them and provided transport
service. God has prepared chosen instruments for
this plan.
I’m Forever Yours
Sr. Ma. Mares “Angela” B. Villalon, MQHM made her final commitment to be espoused to Christ for the rest of her life in her perpetual vow at the San Pedro Calungsod Shrine, last November 23, 2013, presided by His Excellency, Most Rev. Julito Cortez,D.D. , the new bishop of Dumaguete.
May the Queen of Heaven watch and protect her in her life, in her joys and sorrows, to be ever faithful to Christ in the covenant of love she had pledged.

HOME OF LOVE
3
The loving compassion of the Good Shepherd is visibly manifested in the home He created to shelter those
women and children survivors of prostitution and human trafficking. It has been three years since Home of Love
reopened after it was razed by fire in 2009.
The majority of those rescued have chosen to continue their rehabilitation and formation programs. Only 10
clients were discharged since 2010-2013 as shown in Table 1.
Health is Wealth
The Home of Love clients availed of a free cervical
cancer screening in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center
last May 2013. They also benefited from a free dental clinic
from the Cebu Dental Society, headed by Dr. Ronald Loyola.
They found a new home and family
The Home of Love clients showed greater
perseverance in living a renewed life and their battle in their
daily encounter of people and events, which for them are
temptations and obstacles.
The Home of Love has become a
true home to them, where they have found a new
family in the presence of the MQHM Sisters and staff and
their fellow clients as well. They learned to respect each
other and day by day they started to open their hearts to
love and trust again. They shared laughter and tears
throughout their stay in the shelter, becoming like real
sisters.
For a period of two to three years of living under one
roof, they learned how to support each other. Although in
the first meeting they were rivals and enemies, now they
formed friendships like no other. They are concerned with
those who are struggling or giving up. They knew how to lift
up those who feel rejected, abandoned and alone.
A Life with God
They used to be lazy or refused to pray but now they are zealous in their spiritual life. They formed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. They love to sing religious songs and every Sunday they are scheduled to sing in the Parish of San Antonio de Abad. They now desire to have frequent confession.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2010 TO 2013.
A very touching
moment happened
in an annual Lenten
Recollection that was
conducted by Mr.
Anric Boholst, who is
a youth motivator.
Most clients broke
into tears as they
journeyed back
journeyed back into their past experiences. They
realized that God’s hand lifted them up and brought
them into the light.
Dancing and Singing for the Glory of God
The clients also showcased their talents in special
days like Easter Sunday and the Memorial of the Birth of
Mary. This is part of their psychological therapy through
acting, singing and dancing. The girls also found a sense
of value in themselves as they continue to discover that
they are capable of good. Some of them were used to
dance naked in night entertainment establishments and
sing meaningless songs in videoke bars. Now, their
bodies dance in praise of their Divine Creator and thus
led them to realize that there is indeed life after
prostitution.
Empowering through Education and Livelihood
A total of 22 clients studied in primary and
secondary schools in Putat, Tuburan last school year 2012-
2013. One pursued Bachelor of Science in Hospitality
Management in Cebu Technological University, Tuburan
Campus. Those who were recently rescued underwent the
basic literacy program at the center.
In October 2013, six clients were given the
opportunity to take the Elementary Level of the Alternative
Learning System held in Consolacion Central School, Cebu.
A livelihood of sewing school uniforms started last
April 2013. They were glad to partake of this program. They
felt a sense of success that they are capable earning a
decent living. They understood that truly nothing is
impossible with God as long you allow Him to work in one’s
life.

A SAFE HAVEN FOR CHILDREN
The shelter also has a child-friendly environment
that is conducive for their normal and healthy
growth. They too are given basic education. All of
these are free of charge.
The Home of Love is
a safe haven to
children dependents.
“Children
dependents” are the
sons and daughters
or minor siblings of
the rescued women.
They are provided
with their basic
needs of food and
nutrition as well as
their medical needs.
Visit of the Bishop of Libmanan
The visit of the Bishop of Libmanan, His Excellency,
Most Rev. Jose R. Rojas, D.D. brought joy to the
Home of Love Clients. They waited for this moment
so that they can make confession to a bishop about
delicate cases like abortion. Bishop Rojas gave a brief
inspirational message to the clients and he also
hoped to build a similar shelter in his diocese one
day.

PURGENT
MARY QUEEN OF HEAVEN MISSIONARIES: GOD’S GIFT TO THE DIOCESE OF LIBMANAN,
CAMARINES SUR God fulfills His plan at the right time, in the right
place, to the right people. It is not a mere coincidence that
the Bishop of Libmanan, Most Rev. Jose R. Rojas, Jr. D.D.
was looking for a congregation whose apostolate deals with
the children and women lost in prostitution. It was timely
that Sr. Lucia approached Msgr. Raul Pan who provided the
mass for the MQHM Novices in Tumalog, Oslob, Cebu; to
establish a local community in the Bicol Region. After
sometime he came back bringing the news that his former
classmate Bishop Jose Rojas, Jr. is interested to invite the
sisters in the Diocese of Libmanan.
Sr. Ma. Mares “Angela” Villalon, MQHM and Sr. Ma.
Gaudiosa “Clare” Pedoche were sent to Libmanan after we
received the invitation. Events turned out fast and
favorable. Fr. Romulo Castaneda, the generous parish priest
of St. Anthony de Padua in Mambulo, Nuevo was able to
find a house for the sisters, which is very accessible to the
Parish Church and transportation.
His Excellency, blessed the MQHM local house in
Mambulo, Nuevo and canonically erected it as St. Luke
Mission of Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries, on October
18, 2013, Feast of St. Luke.
The sisters are now settled and have started the
good works of spreading God’s love to the poor especially in
the rural areas.

A MAJOR AND URGENT CONCERN!!
HELP US RENOVATE THE HOME OF LOVE
The strong 7.2 magnitude earthquake last October 15, 2013
that badly shook Bohol and Cebu had left a great damage
on the structural foundation of the upper building, causing
it to be totally condemned. It poses a great danger on the
safety of the sisters, staff and the children and women
sheltered in the Home of Love.
Furthermore the damage was aggravated by the Super
Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) particularly the roof and ceiling.
The said building urgently needs renovation. If renovated
and expanded, it will accommodate an additional fifty
clients, thereby multiplying the reclaimed souls for the
Good Shepherd.
BE CHANNELS OF GOD’S
WONDERFUL GRACE AND
PROVIDENTIAL CARE.
P
MQHM in PASIG
The sisters reached out to the
different parishes in the Diocese of Pasig. They
echoed the mission of salvation as an advocacy to
spread the good news and give hope to the victims.
For more than three years they have roamed around
the cities at night to meet girls and women in
prostitution and during the day they extended their
apostolate to the parishioners of San Agustin and
serve them by giving catechism, counseling and
spiritual interventions.
At the same time, they sell religious items
and invited the different parish organizations to
become part of the mission and be called the MQHM
Wings or mission partners. These lay partners assist
them during rosary and scapular drives while others
join in bar and red light district visitations and some
extend their spiritual and financial support.
Monthly masses are held in the convent and
the mission partners gather for an update and for
bonding. The small MQHM community in this
diocese is growing through the constant prayers and
support of the diocese and their lay partners.
6
Regina Coeli Educational Assistance Program
MQHM continues in spreading the message of
hope in God’s love to the poor all over the province of Cebu. Since 2007, the Sisters together with the MQHM Tertiary Community has given educational assistance to 662 pupils of Tumalog, Canang and Can-ukban, Oslob, Cebu. And a sum of 1,617 poor high school beneficiaries from the 34 towns of Cebu also benefitted in the same program. These beneficiaries will be supported all throughout their high school years.

College Beneficiaries Graduated
Truly God’s generosity cannot be outdone. The 17 college students already graduated in their respective two year vocational courses on April 5, 2013 at Cebu Technological University, Argao Campus. This has
opened a new door of
opportunity
to these young men and women. They were also guided by the Sisters in their career path. They were monitored as to their present employment so that they can start earning and little by little will be lifted up from poverty.
His Excellency, Most Reverend Mylo Hubert Vergara, D.D., the Bishop of Pasig, had provided paternal
protection to the Sisters in Pasig Community. They were also given the blessing and permission to reach out to the
other dioceses in Antipolo, Paranaque, Cubao and Pampanga.
Partnerships with different organizations in the different parishes that belong to the said dioceses were
formed in order to assist and establish the mission in a new setting. These networks include:
1. ThePasig City Health Office for free Medical examinations to the women rescued and for medical
clearance and other requirements before sheltering them.
2. The DSWD in different localities for referrals and requirements.
NGO’s like International Justice Mission, Grace to be born and others for referrals, workshops and
seminars.
3. Religious Communities, Schools and Parish Organizations like SSDM, Legion of Mary and others for
referrals and volunteers for field work during bar visitations.
4. Individuals who are willing to become an MQHM mission partners who will assist the sisters in
the apostolate.
5. Professionals like Doctors, Psychologists, Psychiatrist and Social workers for free consultations,
medicine samples and among others.

FREEDOM FORUM
In September 5, 2013 Sr. Ma. Gaudiosa “Clare” C. Pedoche,
MQHM was one of the invited speakers in an after-care workshop
called the Freedom Forum: A Multi-Sectoral Gathering against
Human Trafficking, with the theme “Magkaisa: Ipaglaban ang
Angking Dangal”. This was co-convened by the three largest
church councils (CBCP, PCEC, and NCCP) in the Philippines in
response to the injustice caused by the growing industry of human
trafficking. The event featured expert speakers representing the
government, NGO and church leaders who gave the situation of
trafficking in the Philippines. It was followed with workshops in the
areas of advocacy, intervention and aftercare for participants to
take an active role in the fight.
“WHOM SHALL I SEND?”………” HERE I AM LORD, SEND ME.”
1. Are you willing to become channels of God’s love to the poor? Then volunteer as MQHM Tertiary and
be part of the mission.
2. How can you help in the mission? You can assist in the great task of helping/assisting the poor in their
educational program and spiritual formation:
Help organize the Awarding Ceremony of New Beneficiaries of Regina Coeli Educational
Program in respective places.
Help in the Distribution of School Supplies to High School Beneficiaries in their respective
schools.
Facilitate the Spiritual Formation of Beneficiaries and Recollection of their parents.
JOIN US AND BE THE “HAND OF GOD” IN REACHING OUT TO THE POOR!

In each town there are 50 beneficiaries who will be supported in their high school education. This is a permanent program that is implemented every school year in the 43 towns in Cebu.
The mission was also extended to the 6 towns of Negros Oriental. There will be 300 poor children in this province who will be supported in their secondary education this school year 2014-2015.

VICTIMS IN BANTAYAN ISLAND
Loving concern for the victims of Super
Typhoon “Yolanda” (Haiyan) which devastated several
houses and livelihood in several places including the
Bantayan Island, has generated resources from
kindhearted people and communities in Cebu, Canada
and other places.
Packages of rice, groceries and drinking water,
clothing and school supplies were orderly distributed
among all the beneficiaries of Regina Coeli Educational
Assistance in the towns of Sta. Fe, Bantayan and
Madredejos last January 3, 2014.
They all wore sweet smiles as they received the
bundles. Thank you for making them happy
and inspiring them to move on with their
life, hoping and trusting in God’s loving
providence.

A WORK OPPORTUNITY AND BECOMING A PART OF THE MQHM MISSION
MQHM hired six of their own vocational graduates
of Garments Technology. They took part in sewing the school uniforms that were distributed among the high school beneficiaries. They were very glad to be given this simple opportunity to work and be of help in the MQHM apostolate.
Another six high school graduates from Oslob and Boljoon were hired as volunteers for interviewing and home visitations of the prospective high school beneficiaries for the school year 2014-2015. They helped in the distribution of school supplies, uniforms, shoes, bags, raincoats and materials for projects given to each student in the 62 schools of the 34 towns of Cebu. After their rigid training they were formally hired as staff in the mission in the three regions where the new MQHM local houses were established. They will work hand in hand with the Sisters in going to the mountain areas.
These young workers who were once beneficiaries of the Regina Coeli Educational Assistance Program were privileged to take part in the mission of reaching out to the poor.

MQHM in AMERICA
The Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries is so
blessed to call the Archdiocese of Los Angeles their
home. Sr. Cecilia Canales, the Vicar for the Women
Religious of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is
patiently guiding the sisters in realizing their mission
of helping the victims of prostitution and human
trafficking in Los Angeles and other parts of America.
Through the blessings and prayers of our own first
Filipino saint, they are also blessed to belong in St.
Lorenzo Ruiz Parish Community with Rev. Tony P.
Astudillo as the pastor, in Walnut, California.
10
Their neighbors and friends were very supportive of the apostolate. They supported them at the time they moved
to Walnut and joined them in their activities, recollections and novena prayers. They even produced concerts to help with
the mission.
The Sisters were given the opportunity to join the USCMA (United States Catholic Mission Association). Sr. Jeodalyn
“Isabel” Alontaga, MQHM and Sr. Josefa “Irene” Baquiran, MQHM represented the community in their conference held in
St. Louis, Missouri on Oct. 25, 26 and 27, 2013. They also had their mission appeal under the Propagation of Faith, in the
different Dioceses in the US.
A tertiary gathering was held last January 5, 2014 as a thanksgiving for all
the abundant graces that God has poured for them to continue with the mission
with the theme, “Joy of Service to God”. They prepared some meals and some
visitors even brought their very own specialty home cooked dishes. They were
updated in the progress of the mission and highlighted the plan and love of God for
the poor and the distressed, the mission to help the victims of prostitution, and to
provide education to the poor children in the mountain areas in the Philippines.
The Sisters made them understand that they were the “wings” of the
mission. After the presentation, they were all happy and grateful for the chance to
be the “wings”.
The sisters continuously pray that they will be filled with more fervor, love and
commitment in keeping with the mission. They shall always be in the service of the
Queen of Heaven and the Good Shepherd, in keeping His sheep safe, especially the
innocent taken by the wolves of this world, through perfect love and charity.
“COME BE WITH US! Join us in this wonderful journey of
reinforcing and monitoring the morale and based knowledge on Catholic teachings. Please make time, have time, and find time.”
Benefactors and tertiaries that are willing to be
trained as speakers and facilitators are all welcome. Come
and join us in a special way to reach out to people, young
and old alike. Your presence could be a powerful life
changing events for our beneficiaries.

“Conquer the World
with Love” The world was Evangelized through the Apostles
chosen by Christ Himself. The enemies of God had led the
people of this generation away from God, enticing them to
worldly pleasures and materialism.
The vacuum in the love of God and neighbor in
the world has to be filled up by the apostles of our time also
chosen by God himself through the Blessed Mother Mary.
These privileged and generous souls are graced with
compassionate hearts for the depressed and destitute.
Embracing God’s mission is bringing back to the world in
darkness the light of Christ through authentic love of God and
love of neighbor. Let us be God’s ambassadors of love to the
world. With our steadfast commitment to God’s mission, let
us conquer the world with love! God bless us all!
