REPORTED PROBLEM:

SYSTEM VOLTAGE:

• 120V

PROBABLE CAUSES:

• Faultypump.• Thesystempack’scircuitboardmayhaveablownfuse(F2).• Faultycircuitboardinthesystempack.

TROUBLE SHOOTING STRATEGY:

• Verifyvoltageatthesystempack’sterminalblock.• VerifyvoltageattheGFCI(GroundFaultCircuitInterrupter).• Verifythefuse(F2)isgoodonthesystempack’scircuitboard.• Verifythepumpisconnectedproperlytothesystempack’scircuit boardatJ23.• PutthesysteminPrimingMode,andverifyvoltageatthepump connector(J23)onthesystempack’scircuitboard.Thesystemisin PrimingModewhenthetopsidepaneldisplays“Pr.”

IMPORTANT TROUBLESHOOTING CONCEPTS:

• TroubleshootthepumpwhilethesystemisinPrimingMode. PrimingModelastsapproximately4-6minutes.Whydoesthe systemneedtobeinPrimingMode?Thespatechnicianknowshow thesystembehaveswhileinPrimingMode,making troubleshootingeasier.• SetthevoltmetertoACvoltagebeforemeasuringvoltage. “AC”standsforalternatingcurrent.•Voltagemeasurementsthatvaryplusorminus10%areaccurate. Forexample,ifa120Vcomponentismeasuredbetween 108V-132V,thereadingisaccurate.

Useavoltmetertoverifyvoltage attheterminalblock.

SetthevoltmetertoACvoltage.“AC”standsforalternatingcurrent.

Voltagemeasurementsthatvaryplusorminus10%areaccurate.Forexample,ifa120Vcomponentismeasuredbetween108V-132V,thereading isaccurate.

Measurements1and2shouldbe120V.

Iftheyare120V,gotostep2.

Iftheyarenot120V,theremaybeproblemswiththeGFCIcordorelectricaloutlet.Gotostep3.

Verifythefuse(F2)isgoodbymeasuringvoltagebetweentheterminalblockandthefuse.SetthevoltmetertoACvoltage.Measurevoltageonbothsides ofthefuse.

Measurement 1 Thisdeterminesifvoltageisflowingfromtheterminalblock tothefuse.

Measurement 2 Thisdeterminesifthefuse isgood.

Ifmeasurement2isapproximatelyzerovolts,thefuseisbad.Replaceit.

Ifmeasurement2is120V,thefuseisgood,butthesystempackisbad.Replacethe systempack.

STEP 3

GFCI cord

RemoveGFCIfromtheoutlet,andverifythevoltage.

Ifthevoltageisnot120V,theelectricalserviceisfaulty. Callanelectrician.

Ifthevoltageis120V,theGFCIcordisbad.ReplacetheGFCIcord.

Makesurethevoltmeterprobecontactsthemetalconnectorpinwhenmeasuringvoltage.

STEP 4

VerifyvoltageattheJ23pumpconnectoronthesystem pack’scircuitboard.

STEP 4

B-WhilethesystemisinPrimingMode,turnonthelowspeedpumpbypressingthepumpbuttononthetopsidepanel.WhenthelowspeedpumpisON,measurevoltagebetweentheblackandwhitewiresontheJ23pumpconnector.Ifthevoltagemeasurementis120V,thepumpisbad.Replace thepump.

C-WhilethesystemisinPrimingMode,turnonthehighspeedpumpbypressingthepumpbuttononthetopsidepanel.WhenthehighspeedpumpisON,measurethevoltagebetweentheredandwhitewiresontheJ23pumpconnector.Ifthevoltagemeasurementis120V,thepumpisbad.Replace thepump.

A-PutthesystemintoPrimingMode.ThisisdonebypoweringOFFthesystemandthenpoweringONthesystemagainattheGFCI.PrimingModelastsapproximately4-6minutes.“Pr”appearsonthetopsidedisplaywhenthesystemisinPrimingMode.
